Oh that would have probably been a pleasure comparatively. We had to count the store while it was open. Then reconcile vs the day's sales. THEN we had to count the store again. Reconcile. THEN verify the reconcile and reconcile again. And at that point so long as our on-hand value and what our inventory value according to corporate should be was less than 10k in difference, we could go home. Otherwise we had to start our counts all over again.

It was a nightmare.

If it would make the retail workers feel better, I will tell my very funniest retail story ever, which involves end-of-night inventory at a friend's place of employment. I will warn, however, that said friend was working at a fetish shop at the time, so.... it's super, super NSFW.

Yeah, uh... that's what we do. We have only an hour for "closing" procedures once the store is closed and then we're supposed to be out of the store. Which includes cleaning the store, restocking everything, doing inventory and prep for the next day. So inventory gets done while the store is open and we have to compare to what we "should" have vs what we think we have.

Yeah sounds similar. Our inventory was often leaving at 5am and someone being scheduled back in to open at 7am. It only happened once that I got stuck with the store opening and was quite clear I would not do it again.

I have now been sick with the flu for over a fucking week and still can only manage a couple of hours of productive time before I am back shivering and exhausted in my bed.

If you havent already gotten your flu shot, get it!! I got mine late and picked up the bug before it was at its protective level. No one else has gotten it except for a mild version in the preschooler because they got their shots weeks ago.

You don't want this thing. It is not as nasty as the first run of h1n1 but it's up there in nastiness.

@mietze I THINK what crushed me this last week was a lupus flare, but I'd been wondering if I'd caught something. I basically spent the week with the shakes (edit: and crazy night sweats) and passing out up to 20 hours a day and am just starting to drag myself out of it. Maybe it was the flu after all!

After two months of having my finger immobilized 24/7 I got to take the splint off at the surgeon's office and it's now healed. The next step is rehab, which will last another month.

I've been worried about how it was doing since there's no feedback - there was never any pain or disconfort, it's just that the top knuckly just... wouldn't stay straight with a torn extendor tendon, it'd just droop, and I was only taking the splint off for a minute at a time, manually supporting it with my other fingers once a day to keep the skin clean. I've been of course cheating like crazy by double-splinting it to play basketball but hey.

The funny thing is bending it even at the perfectly healthy joint is pretty hard now since neither joint has been used in weeks. I just want that damn finger back so I can type - I type for a living, more or less, and it turns out your middle finger is pretty handy (haaaah hah) for that.

@arkandel You should eventually regain the motion. I used to tear up my knee's tendons pretty frequently (I have a congenital tissue disorder), and have had to have it wrapped and immobilized for weeks at a time. When the bandages came off, the damn thing wouldn't bend more than a few degrees. Working the joint carefully should loosen it back up over time.
