      @Auspice

I'm not okay with this cuz it is making kneeling by my student's desks so much harder and I have at least 25 more years to go in this profession.

I didn't eat today until around 830 PM. I ordered two sandwiches from Jimmy John's.

I ate the second sandwich around midnight. I started getting very thirsty. I drank water. Still thirsty.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the nutrition facts for the sandwiches I ate.

One of them has 2100 mg of sodium. The other has 2800.

I ate roughly 5 grams of sodium in four hours.

I have been drinking so much water. I am still so thirsty. This is what hypernatremia is like. I am going to turn into a shriveled Rinel and be mummified from the inside out

Can I have your day please? Cuz my days/weeks/year are going so fast that I feel like I'm drowning.

Helping the teens navigate through some boundary setting and scheduling issues at work so that they can have discussions (separately) with their various managers and also working out transportation plans is great (I am proud of them, they all had been working towards that anyway, but I think they are feeling less stressed now that they know we are in full support).

However it is highlighted how burned the fuck out I am at my work. I am currently the only branch employee available for the next two weeks, as one manager is on vacation, the other is out for the foreseeable future on emergency medical leave, and the other officer has called in sick, conveniently, until her vacation starts next week (this is her usual pattern).

I am burned the fuck out while simultaneously really enjoying the job. By the time I get home I pretty much go to sleep. I miss RP. I feel sad about not being on the game as much as I want to be. Luckily it's the best time for this to happen because of the slowdown so I know I am not "behind", but I miss my favorite steam-blowing/fun activity. But I am feeling pretty sad. I think the higher ups are scared I will quit because all of a sudden they are being very careful to keep me closer to my contracted hours than I have ever experienced, after months of it being hard to find subs they are pulling out all the stops to get coverage so I only have to stay an hour or less late, if at all, rather than relying on me to work full time.

I just wish I had my brain back, and energy back. 😞 I feel like I suck when I do get out to play (and am aware that probably I do not, I'm just very depleted mentally), I forget tasks I wanted to do/was excited about doing, and I am feeling like I am in a state of perpetual chaotic catchup at work and home and everywhere else.

I have been treating these symptoms for a solid week. The upshot: my sinuses are almost completely better. My cough is worse. And I have been sleeping constantly.

This is not convenient for billing hours. Or doing rp. Or living in an apartment that does not look like some kind of Kleenex explosion zone.

Sometimes I manage to forget that my father is a climate change denier and then he ends up reminding me and I get annoyed all over again.

I've been working through teaching certification (yes, I am mad, why do you ask?) and it has been taking me days to finish this one section because the unit just will not load properly. I'll get through a few parts of it and then reach a page that just will. not. load.

                            It's getting really frustrating. 😐

If you haven't reached out to your school's IT dept for help you might try it. They may fix it, or send it to you in a diff format. OTOH, depending on the school, it may actually be MORE frustrating than just Dealing With It until you're through it. I had to work with the IT of a university at one point because one of my voc counselors was having problems exactly like you are describing with one of the modules. It was a headache and I wouldn't recommend it if you didn't already know computers, but it might be worth a shot.

Either way, thank you for even pursuing being a teacher. I feel like that is good for you and good for the kids that will have you to be fierce for them.

They're redoing the module and I'm preeeeeetty sure this is why.

Unfortunately it's not being released until late October. So I'll probably work on other modules and kick at this one now and then. I'm just actually really interested in the contents of this one and nearing the end of what I can do on my own while I wait for a school to get back to me about my in-classroom observation time.

Also thank you. I'm pretty terrified about actually doing it to be honest. I keep finding applications for what I study at my current job (I mean I'm writing training documentation after all) and in staffing which is kind of fun. But. Actually teaching kids someday already has the imposter syndrome meter turned to yikes.

I can completely understand that. Imposter syndrome is rough. I still deal with it on the regular. So does my team's database admin. So does my boss, who is the CIO. Regularly. I know this cos we talk about it. Part of me suspects it has something to do with being women in tech for so long, but idk.

All that aside, lady, I would send my kid to you. You have a huge heart. That is (to me at least) the most important thing. I have mad respect for all the teachers around here, y'all give me hope. You got this.

It really does. I said to a colleague yesterday that I keep expecting someone to turn around and realise I don't know what I'm talking about.

Totally relate to this. It has gotten a lot better now that I'm in year 10 and fairly secure in myself, but there are still moments when I go, "Do people REALLY give me their babies all day?!" ❤
