      Making character sheets.

      Specifically WoD.

I've been invited to a Vampire VTT. It's a cool concept. And I really enjoyed the last Vampire VTT I was in a handful of years ago.

But I really, really hate making WoD sheets. Like, so much.

I sat here thinking 'If I could pay someone on Fiverr $5 to do this, I totally would.'

There are people on Fiverr who will do your char sheet for you, but it's all D&D*. So, hey, if you really enjoy making WoD characters: there's a side hustle opportunity for you.

*OK, so of the 9 people who will write a character sheet for you... all are D&D but 1 will also do Star Wars FFG. But that's it! No other game systems!

Saying the quiet parts out loud since 1996.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, JUST TELL US WHAT YOU WANT.

See, this is sort of the crux.

In my opinion, in law school, when a professor gives you weekly assignments it is to test your mettle as a lawyer. After two years of law school, I would expect that a student who know what that means. Students are required to take a full-year of writing and research courses.

But as a practitioner, I don't expect shit. Really, I just want them to hand in an assignment that wouldn't get them fired from a firm. So timeliness, writing style, and grammar are more important than legal analysis.

Should I expect this from 3Ls? Yes and no. I am not going to flat out tell them:

"Look, losers, you don't know shit about shit. You really don't. I don't want to make you all into emo-kids, but you're going to need to suck it up and realize that nothing you produce will ever satisfy your legal partner the first day in. Take your lumps, adjust, and adapt. That's how you survive. But the first step is doing shit quickly and meeting deadlines, so give me something and I probably won't flay you alive."

But that's really kind of the truth; I want work-product I can cut to pieces to help them become better lawyers, and the main goal is to get that shit to me in a timely fashion and be ready to learn the hard way.

If I tell them that? I'm going to get absolute garbage because they know I'm not going to hammer them for garbage. So it's sometimes best to keep vague about that shit and let them rely on what they know.

Disgruntlement or reason to party? Not sure. Sometimes, a little bad news is good news. At least when it comes to finding out that no, 14 months of extreme fatigue is not depression. It's exactly what I've been saying all along -- and now the ultrasound agrees that my thyroid gland is enlarged and so full of cysts it looks like it's been shot with rock salt.

            writing style

Law school peeve: If, in your Legal Writing course, you are prescribing a specific style of writing (such as that suggested by Bryan Garner in, say, "The Winning Brief") please make sure that you faculty knows that this is the prescribed style.

I get it, in the real world, judges and such probably have a slew of different expectations, but guys. Come on. This is the low-hanging fruit. The stylistic choice of whether to use full-sentence headers or handful-of-words headers doesn't have a massive impact on the substance of the argument, and marking people down because they did what you told them to do except that this professor doesn't like it is fucking stupid.

            That is all.

Honestly, the styles I am referring to are “persuasive,” “analytical,” and “readable.”

                            Double post because:

                            Licensing

I recently decided to go back and watch Supernatural from the beginning because Netflix and hey why not, I can binge the whole show.

Except I kept thinking something was off.

And when I got to Faith, in Season 1, there is a certain song playing at a certain moment that very much sets the tone. Those who know the show know what I'm talking about.

Except in the Netflix version it's an entirely different song and I have no idea what the fuck that is supposed to even be.

That song is set to one of the most memorable moments in Supernatural, and to not have it with the shot is a goddamn crime. The soundtrack to the original seasons was the best part.

ETA: For those who don't mind spoilers, it's this scene. How can you switch that song?

I got shown the show during season 4. I'm into horror movies, classic cars, and classic rock, so a friend lured me in to watch it. Been watching ever since.

They look so YOUNG there. (They were, of course). And yeah, you can NOT replace that song. The song they put in seems decent, but it's not the RIGHT SONG.

(I have not seen the second half of season 15. I did think about watching it from beginning to end, but.. I have spoilers to avoid. So binging)
