Also @FirePuff why would you get a chicken sandwich at a place with burger in it's name? I know a lot of people do it but it always strikes me as odd. I mean if I want chicken it is not like chicken places are hard to find.

I don’t really do regular burgers anymore, to be honest. I tend to get chicken or turkey burgers or patties at places like P. Terry’s and Hopdoddy. I don’t have an aversion to beef, I just prefer poultry.

...I also got a chicken sandwich? Sometimes burgers just don't agree with my stomach. Esp. fast food ones.

Clearly @FirePuff and I just aren't meant for fast food. 😛

These are about the only kind of burgers I eat anymore. Those are turkey burgers with onions, jalapenos, cilantro and chipotle peppers, topped with pepperjack cheese, pico de gallo and a dollup of fresh tomato salsa.

We have a 5 guys not too far from us. This is the only place we go for burgers these days, unless it's when my gf is getting off work at 12am and we're too tired (no spoons) to cook.

Cream chipped beef, which you cannot get here at all. I am tempted to get a dehydrator partly because I need one to make my own.

I have baklava from Greece, thanks to my Greek housemate who went home for the holidays! Pistachio, almond, and kataif, which is new to me. Google tells me kataif is (more) shredded phyllo dough, in angel hair shape.

I never liked balkava. I'm a traitor to my own people.

Also wth goes to Greece in the winter? Wait for the summer, person!

The nice couple that owns the local Greek restaurant closes the shop every December-- for the entire month-- to go home for the holidays. They've done this every year for as long as I can remember.

                          Caldo Verde- Portuguese Green soup

Take a green (collard or kale) wash, cut the thick stem off, slice into ribbons. Set aside.

Cut chorizo or linguica sausage into slices. Set aside.

Take a few potatoes, cut them into cubes.

In your pot, sautée your potatoes with garlic (as much garlic as possible!) and olive oil, then add your sausage. Onion is optional for sautéing.

Pour in your chicken stock, lower your heat so that your potatoes can get nice and soft. When your potatoes are just about done, add your greens and let those cook for about 15 minutes.

Now it’s ready! Feel it in your soul....

@arkandel My housemate goes to Greece in the winter! She's from there; she's a Ph.D student, and it just was winter break (plus, we're in upstate NY, so just about anywhere in Europe south of, like, the Shetlands will be warmer).

And that's OK! More baklava for me!

I am not a huge fan of baklava but I do buy it occasionally from the same Filipino lady who makes lumpia for me. It blows away the stuff Nikos sells (a local Greek restaurant).
