Eternal High School.

This is just a random thought but I realized today WoD: Vampire is a high school simulator for adults.
There are the cool kids who usually run everything and tell everyone where their place is.
The angry, violent teens who would bully everyone if the cool kids wouldn't turn everyone against them.
The ugly kids who fawn over the cool kids and the angry kids in hopes of gleaning off some of that glory for themselves.
The goths who are into darkness and playing dress up way to much.
The theater and art kids.
The crazy kids no one wants to deal with.
You even have a tiny sprinkling of kids way to into shop class, those kids everyone would vote most likely blow up a school, the religious nut seeking enlightenment and the rare hippy tree huger who would rather live with animals than people. It's high school that lasts forever.

Most things can be reduced to "high school but [insert supernatural thing, insert other stage in life, insert whatever]".
The social dynamics that we experience in high school are built by adults in the way they structure and teach classes from the governmental level down, and in the way adults write and present young people in media. Very slowly are we seeing a slow change in the latter now a days.
Almost any game can be associated with an aspect of high school or, even more primally, to an aspect of life that is fundamentally challenged in the years we attend high school, largely because conflict is king and we're almost never as explicitly conflicted both within and without as we are in our formative teenage years.

This is a random response, but it baffles me that no one seems to consider high school a simulator for teens of the stupid, ridiculous shit they will have to deal with for the rest of their damned lives.

@ganymede In fairness, sometimes it just demonstrates it from the perspective of some other group. The art freak group suddenly isn't 'freaks' when they're at art school in college, for instance -- and different roles get tried on based on different criteria. It's the same bullshit 'classification' setup, they're just different classifications (weirdo abstract person, doodles because being stoned makes them want to doodle person, fussy perfectionist, person just there because they thought it would be easier than 'normal college', etc.). We self-sort a lot in college, at least regarding some of the standard high school classifications. It probably saves a lot of sanity for the folks who do, even if it means 'oh, fuck, maybe I'm slightly more mentally well-adjusted having gone to art school as an art freak rather than standard general college, but, uh... would you like fries with that?' can easily later introduce a whole new set of problems and classifications.

It's true; High School is that stage of development between the point when people develop a sense of self and identity (usually between 7 and 12 - where folks start having 'preferences' and likes or dislikes of their own rather than what other people tell them) and the point where the part of the brain responsible for ... well, being responsible and considering consequence develops (usually early to mid twenties). It's why that's generally the age that folks test boundaries or rebel - they want what they want, and have no way of conceptualizing the longer reaching consequence to themselves or others. That attitude doesn't just go away when people leave high school, but usually it's tempered - either by societal pressures and no longer being able to hide behind the 'just a dumb kid' defense, or the person's own sensibilities coming into play.
That doesn't mean that the impulses are no longer there, though; some folks just hide it better - and others never adequately develop that second stage of measuring consequences. -
So.. Vampire Academy?
