Potential Buffy Game

@bad-at-lurking Announcing games here before they are at least 90% formed is a death sentence. I wish less people did it.
He didn't announce it, he's asking people their opinions and discussing the possibility of it. I'm super excited for it and hope he finishes his work!
-
@cobaltasaurus Not saying anyone in particular did or didn't. I am glad you are excited for it, and I hope he finishes his work as well, but I don't get what any of this has anything to do with what I said.
-
@sunnyj You posted in a development thread saying “announcing games before they come out kills them”. @ZombieGenesis didn’t announce a game, he opened a development thread discussing what he wants to do and asking people for opinions and ideas.
-
@cobaltasaurus I was directly replying to another poster, who was saying many people in this forum are soul-crushing nitpickers, which I agree with. It has nothing to do with @ZombieGenesis who, as you yourself point out, didn't announce a game. Stop this nonsense.

If you’re directly replying to someone try quoting them so people have context. However, having gone back to look at @Bad-at-Lurking ’s comments it STILL comes across as you casting shade on @ZombieGenesis for talking about a game that isnt fully formed.
-
@cobaltasaurus And I am -telling- you this is not the case, and yet you still keep trying to peg this as me shitting on ZG's game or something. Have at it, dude. This has drawn out long enough and you seem to want to have this discussion? I don't.

Back to development talk.
@ZombieGenesis, you may want to watch this documentary that's coming out on September 11: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/announcement/ten-years-after-the-great-recession-frontline-and-propublica-go-inside-one-american-citys-fight-to-recover/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share_button

Just a brief update about the game, I'm still plugging along it's just been slow. This week has been not the best week ever. I won't go into the gory details but it involved moving my wife's grandmother up to Maine and then said grandmother taking a fall and shattering a vertebra in her back.
In a more amusing sidenote, the city of Dayton now haunts me. Not really but my brother is a truck driver who was up to help with stuff and he left for his next pickup yesterday and where was he picking up? Dayton, OH. Also, I recently started playing The Hulk on a comic game that's not public yet and I discovered Bruce Banner was in fact born in Dayton, OH as I was filling out his wiki page. Funny stuff.
-
All roads lead to Dayton.
Mostly because Ohio has really bad road signs.

That could be an interesting plot. There's a devil's trap that makes all roads lead to Dayton for anything supernatural

Refinement of plot idea: the REASON someone put a devils trap over Ohio to churn the supernatural to Dayton... is to effectively safeguard the hellmouth in Cleveland.

Just wanted to let those who were interested know that work has finally begun on the game in earnest. I've registered a domain and we're in the process of setting up the mediawiki. Right now I have someone making it look all pretty and what not while I import all the rules and RPG information players will need to play on the game.
The good news is the code work on the mux itself is done. I just need to build the grid and get the wiki up and running for the most part and we'll be good to go. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to open a week or so before Halloween.
-
@zombiegenesis Not that I want a game to be delayed but come on man, if you have the option of launching this right on Halloween then g'dammit, you take it.

The offer to work on the Grid and other locations to assist remains open.

I would actually suggest launching it 1 week before Halloween (maybe 2), so that the first RP after characters are approved can be on Halloween.

I am very excited about the prospect of this game! Thanks again for working on it!

Work progresses and I'm pretty happy with some of the mock-up layouts I've seen for the wiki. I'm currently working on inputting system information so everything everyone needs for the RPG is right there on the wiki.
@Ganymede I'll probably take you up on that offer but I wanna wait till the wiki is just about done before I move on to asking for more external help. Thanks!
-
No problem.
I'm just interested and excited in people playing in a place that Frontline put into a false light.
Really, it's not all gunshots and dope around here, srs.
-
@ganymede Isn't it gunshots and dope literally everywhere, though?
It's possible that my job has impacted how I view the world.
