@arkandel While I am not even a little bit surprised by the findings there -- which are along the predictable 'money doesn't buy happiness' line -- I will say this: there sure isn't a dearth of miseries it can't make fuck all, partly, or at least some measure of the way off.

I think it speaks more to human nature. Insanely wealthy people are still people and they need to feel good about themselves. They are insulated from many of our (?) common everyday triumphs - a vacation now and then means nothing to them, a new car is a mere banality, being given a present at Christmas, having someone do their chores for a few days... basically anything materialistic, any improvements to their lifestyle, they are all useless.
All they have is the spirit of good ol' tribal competition. That one goes all the way from wanting to win the game of MUSHes to win the game of bank accounts.
I liked where the article pointed out people who become wealthy move to a different neighborhood where people are as or richer than they are, so the cycle begins anew. That was interesting.

@arkandel I dunno. I know what I'd want to do with a screaming buttload of disposable cash. Most of it has little to do with me.
I'm not much inclined toward the 'keep up with the neighbors'/competitive mentality, though, which I recognize is a bit atypical. I just find the whole thing pretty awful and toxic.
I don't care that several of our current neighbors have boats or RVs and we don't (even if it'd be nice to have those things to be able to use them for travel), for instance. I do care that friends of mine are struggling with major health concerns that money could help. I don't care who on the street has a brand new third car while we have one used bucket between us, but I do care about my second cousins, who started a business that's struggling to get off the ground while they work themselves half to death to keep up with unexpected demand that more employees and equipment and space (which they can't presently afford) could help out over night.
It depends on what matters to someone, in the end. If you give none fucks about the Joneses, no matter what your bank account says, you're going to be much happier in life.

Egypt investigating picture of couple having sex on Grreat Pyramid.
Not all heroes wear capes.
Obviously NSFW-ish but overall pretty mild.
-
@derp Ancient sandstone scratching at your back? They should've worn a cape to cut down (somewhat, wink wink) on the abrasions.

They are assholes. I hate those kinds of tourists.
A few years ago a Brit tourist in Knossos - a freakin' 3000 year old palace - went across the ropes when no one was looking and took a dump on the Minoan throne.
Like come on. It's really hard to advocate life-ruining sentences for idiots like this since no one got hurt... technically... but fuck.

Assuming it's actually on the pyramid, and not staged with a backdrop. The latter being easier to do than climb the damned thing.
I'd recommend establishing an international watch list of people committing... hmm... 'Egregeous misconduct near or on places and/or objects of historical value.' Sort of like how if you mess up in one casino, another casino half-way around the world will know your face.

Four More Swamps!
I'm honestly impressed that the machine learning created a credible, if surreal, dialogue about milk.

@thenomain It's pretty funny, but I doubt AI wrote this. It reads very much like a human writing AI writing it.

Okay, So you’re right, but tell me this isn’t impressive even for a human to sound enough like a bot to come close to some of the more insane bot things out there.
Good comedy is good.
-
@thenomain I live for the day we have to start censoring bots which simply learned how to act by parsing stuff from the internet.
I mean imagine the AI that could get created if it had learned all it knew going through MSB posts?
