Sexual themes in roleplay
-
Let's have a clean thread here folks.
This is a generic catch-all topic meant to discuss roleplaying sexual themes whether they're getting faded to black or role played in their every detail.
To kick-start the conversation here's a question: Do you TS? If so, why? If not, why not?
(For the purposes of this, consider TS actually posing things out rather than fading to black)
-
I role-play. Not sure why TS is still considered to be something different than that.
-
It's a fair question but that's because for some people, it is.
-
Some people are fucking morons too.
I'm sure someone will respond more meaningfully, but I don't think I can.
-
@Arkandel You've already been involved in a discussion like this half a dozen times already.
-
For example I know people who only play ghouls under the condition that they won't TS. If sex ever comes up, it'd be faded to black. I don't see why that makes them morons if it makes them uncomfortable for any reason.
This can span any kind of RP, not just the sexual variety; for instance I don't mind if a character of mine is tortured but I wouldn't have fun posing him as he gets his nails pulled out.
-
@Glitch You mean the conversation we were asked to take elsewhere? This is 'elsewhere'.
-
What do you think about Rape RP, Ark?
-
@Thenomain : Nothing that I haven't already replied in the original thread, unless you're asking about something in particular?
-
I figured if I was going to be involved in your defense, I'd correct the topic that I was tweaking over so that we're all on the same page, is all.
-
I didn't realize I had to be defended. But I figured if we had a thread to talk about this kind of thing (@Miss-Demeanor I think brought up role-playing BDSM in that same conversation) it might as well be about more than just raep-RP.
Is that a problem for anyone?

Sigh.

I didn't realize you needed defended either, but here you are, doing it, and using me in the reason. I'm pretty sure I'm socially allowed to correct the implication of my intention. If you think not, then you can kindly bite me.
-
@Thenomain Okay, fair point. I didn't mean to be defensive (yet it came out that way).
Now can we talk about sex?
-
Fuck that.
(That's a fucking joke. A joke. With the word 'fuck'. Meaning 'sex'. You people are weird.)

So, what you're saying is that there are certain situations that players won't RP through. TS is one of them.
Right. And? That doesn't make TS not RP. It's RP of a different variety, and people can choose to engage in it or not.
Maybe I consider this a dead topic, or one that is so laden with truisms and outdated arguments that I can't take any discussion thereof seriously any more. Just do TS or don't do TS, I don't give a shit why.
-
A minor epiphany of phrasing occured to me a few weeks ago.
Play is play. Role play is a type of play. TS is a type of role play. Done.
Note that Game Play is not Role Play. Therefore, Role Playing Games are designed as having crossed purposes. MU*s tend to treat role play as sacrosanct, so the game play cannot intrude on the role play. People won't play to social stats/dice rolls, nor to generalized mind control, but they allow complete mind dominance since you don't role play through that.
-
I have been known to type about cocks entering vaginas(and divers other orifices), yes. On the Internets, even.
What of it?
-
I was expecting some Salt-N-Pepa.
-
Sexual themes in roleplay?
We need more of them, of course. I've been batting around an idea lately, to go with my Frozen Mu* idea.
A game in which you can only roll a Lesbian Asian Schoolgirl.
In short, it would be like the game Queen's Blade.
If you don't want to click the link, it is a Japanese game about women with large breasts and flat-chested schoolgirls fighting each other by trying to remove each other's armor.
The loser is the one who ends up naked.

There does seem to be a dividing line for some folks.
That being said, more on topic: Sometimes, if it's a natural outgrowth of the RP and more importantly if I'm comfortable enough with the other player and vice-versa. It can be entertaining, sometimes for good reasons and sometimes for comedic reasons.
I've backed way, way off from ye olden days of yore, though. I had my phase where I sought it out frequently, and it tends to lead to all sorts of problems with some of those clingy players that had been discussed here in another thread, and often the kinds that aren't the relatively benign kind of clingy.
