L&L Options?

Are there any lords & ladies style games other than Arx open at the moment?

There is IthirMUSH, however, it is L&L Lite, due to the real lack of politicking, more along the lines of agreements and so forth, and no real "working to be better than others", but that's in their theme.

@Ganymede It is very much open and active, with a nice community of players. We're more story focused than reliant upon coded play.

And I'd be totally down with going back to Marsilikos to play with you and Caryatid.

I've always been interested in Marsilikos, but since I don't know anything about the Kushiel books, I've never done anything more than look.

I appreciate the recommendation. Unfortunately, I would rather chew glass than subject myself again to that staff corps.

I don't know about ithir, but if she's story-starved in Arx it's probably because we're WAY behind on actions and so everything metaplotty is on hold while we catch up. Slowly. Though I can't speak for her and there might be some horrible drama that I've totally missed during my shithole summer. But there is no overlap of staff between the two games.

@tek I'm on Arx? It's not a rejection, I'm just already there.
My personal experience with one of the staffmembers of Ithir was being subjected to skeevy creeping, manipulation, and gaslighting so he could always have his way. Another of the staffers is someone whose personality and methods of interaction I do not get along with. I'm not putting myself through any of that again.

@Lisse24 Hello! I just wanted to say, it's not necessary to have read the books.
It's a lords 'n' ladies game with some extra terminology, which it isn't that hard to pick up as one goes along. The significant material is covered on our game wiki. Plenty of people come in without having read canon and do very well in play-- including people I myself recruited, who didn't know the Kushiel theme from a hole in the wall.So if you're interested, please come and see us! We'd be glad to help you settle in and find a good IC niche for yourself.

@Ganymede I think we played together at least once on Marsilikos and -- besides the obvious attractions of @Pondscum and @Caryatid -- I'd be delighted to reprise the experience.

So in looking at the suggestions for L&L’s by folks here, I see:
Arx (Fantasy of a human kingdom surviving against myths and legends)
IthirMUSH (Fantasy around the five elven kinships, magic)
Marsilikos (Fantasy around the Kushiel series)That's all that folks recommend?

I tried Marsilikos and found it hard to get into, though everyone I met was super nice. I might need to try again with a different character at some point.
