Le Deuxieme Etat

It's a game I'm running, so I figure this is a good spot to put it as there's a lot of crossover interest.
Not a MU* but a one-off LARP, so if you're not interested, look away now.
Being held in the UK, so if you're not UK based and/or won't travel, you can also look away now.
For those of you still here, we have 4 tickets remaining (2 in the Clergy faction, 2 in the Orleans faction) for this socio-political LARP set in 18th century France in the court of Louis XV. It's July 17-19 2020, and tickets are £140 or £160, which includes all catering, accommodation and the game itself. The site is Ingestre Hall, a grade IIa listed jacobean stately home in Staffordshire, now converted to a youth arts centre.
We've deliberately pitched the game and the bespoke rules-light system to be accessible to all, particularly those with mobility or hearing difficulties, anxiety or ASD, but feel free to ask if you have queries.

@Caggles This looks totally awesome, unfortunately I'm not UK based.

I've never LARPed, someone told me once that a black girl couldn't be a fairy because there's no fairies in Africa (not a racist person, just a stickler for historical plausibility) & that's sort of colored my willingness to do pretendy things outside the anonymity of the interwebz. But this looks very cool and fancy, if a super-long train ride from London.
-
@Pandora Wow. It's almost like they forgot that "RP" stands for "Role Play", not "Real Play".

It seems to me a stickler for historical plausibility would say no one could be a fairy because there's no fairies anywhere.

@Pandora Apparently attitudes are changing over time. Says someone Labyrinthe rules said was too short to be an elf and too tall to be a dwarf - and who Fools and Heroes said couldn't belong to any of the Knightly Orders except the Templars, who were the ones the rest looked down on. Can't think why I disliked either system.
@Caggles Looks amazing. Unfortunately I haven't a thing to wear (and a couple of other reasons too, but it does look amazing).

Well, I did say historical plausibility, not historical accuracy. But yeah, I do kind of feel it would have been nicer to just let it be, there were no rules against it, this was just someone I respect's opinion. I am a decade+ older now & respect means a lot less to me, I do what I want and make black characters everywhere, because fuck it.

I think I would quite like to cheerfully stab anyone who wants to say you can't play X, Y or Z because you are black/fat/short/disabled.
Seriously. If you can bring yourself to believe that the foam and latex sword is going to hurt you, or that this 18 year old is actually the Duc d'Orleans, or that you're a goddamn WIZARD, I think you can bring yourself to believe that Bernie the 6'5 dwarf player is a fucking dwarf.

Or they could be dead wrong.
Aziza. Yumboes. The eloko.
I mean, seriously, people, if you’re going to be racist by ignorance, at least admit to the ignorance.

@Caggles Oh, I promise you, I would have been quite happy to stab the arses at F&H who couldn't see what the problem was. Unfortunately to get to them I'd have had to go to one of their main events, and that was a very long way on a very short budget for something that wasn't /that/ far out of the ordinary back in the 90's.
Hopefully female front-line fighters are more common now than we used to be.
