Yesterday my SO asked me to help her clean up a room and set it up as a craft room. A bunch of boxes got set in the hallway. We just moved, so we have a bunch of weird stuff in wrong packaging, like an Amazon box filled with hand towels.

I see a taped box for a computer monitor. A 24" computer monitor. I didn't remember packing that.

Me: "Hey, babe, what's packed in this computer monitor box? Do I need to unpack it?"

Her: "...shit. Merry Christmas. Guess I'm gonna have to find you another xmas present, now."

Moral #1 If you're hiding Christmas gifts, remember that when asking your SO to help move stuff around.

Moral #2: If you call it out, you might get an extra present out of it!

she shoulda told you it was her luchadore costumes and if you were a good boy she'd break it out next weekend

        I KNOW she should have.

She could have also been "oh that's my old grandma's stuff, put it in the closet" and I wouldn't have known the wiser. Like a dopey dog I would have just gone "durrrr okay, that monitor looks sweet we should get one!"

          Follow-up.

The JCVD picture in the bathroom is a hit. 2/3 people who visit my new house are like: "It is so weird but interesting peeing while Jean-Claude Van Damme is gazing romantically at you."

          But even better?

My SO's "best bitch" came over yesterday came over yesterday and brought over her 18 year old daughter, who came out of the bathroom asking who that guy in the picture is.

So it became gif-time as we showed her the splits, split kick, split ballpunch, punch the snake in its face, the "JCVD dance", and regaled her about "The Muscles from Brussels" and his $10k/week cocaine habit.

Between last weekend's house party and this weekend, I've had to open up that JCVD OR JADEN SMITH thread a few times.

A couple of years ago, I "won Christmas" as @insomniac7809 describes it. Since I will never, ever, ever top that gift -- and I say this as someone who prides herself on giving great gifts -- there's a new rule in the house.

I don't have to try when it comes to his Christmas presents anymore. He just tells me what he wants, I do some research (which he hates when it's for buying shit), and then present him with a few options to pick from. He gets exactly what he wants and is usually thrilled by it, and then I'll toss in something smaller and much less expensive than the 'big' present -- usually a book of some kind -- that's a surprise for him to open on Christmas day. It works pretty well.

                  @Roz Congrats!!!

Thing I love: my perfect dog was so well behaved when I helped a woman carry laundry from the 'mat to her apartment. It was more than a few blocks and she just trotted merrily along with us and was completely chill.

All these Pixar movies I've never seen before are killing me. I feel like the soft skin over my eyeballs and eyesockets is permanently sunburned from the crying and the rubbing.

                        So, Up, right?

So, that one I am literally watching through the sheen of tears 3/4 of the whole movie, even though I've seen it once before. The Toy Story movies apparently kill me (I hadn't yet seen 2 or 3), Wall-E kills me, and this thing I never even heard of before, The Good Dinosaur, kills me.

Oh, and Brave. It didn't help that Luci, this kitten we've taken in who's taken to his name with far too much enthusiasm, ripped the fucking Chromecast and Roku out of the back of my television during the final fight that I was positive wouldn't turn out well despite this being a Disney, Pixar, and 'family' movie because for some reason I just get REALLY INTO these.

Can't sleep, going in for more. Got my snorkel on, wish me luck.

Up's first five minutes are er, up there with any romantic movie ever made. Change my mind.

I can't. I am in utter and complete agreement. You basically go through the whole romantic movie of the entirety of their lives together, that quick, that clean, and with it making as much, if not more, impact than any/most other romantically inclined movies I've ever seen. That just set me up like slightly soggy house of cards for like... the entire rest of the movie.

One of the really sweet things about my job is that people will find food things they think would be good for someone else. Most commonly people with dietary restrictions (we are all conditioned to look for kosher stuff for my one teammate, for example!). You find it, you leave it on that person's desk.

Today's the first time I've come in to find something on mine: honey pops. I assume since I've been sick, but still a super sweet gesture and one I really appreciate. ❤

Definitely. And it is done with just the opening dialogue. The montage is silent-theater genius.

                                  my weighted blanket.

I dunno what it is about my ever-present leg pain that means pressure brings relief, but the pressure from the blanket is one of the only things I know (besides strong drugs) that helps. Makes getting into bed at night p awesome.

I love days like today when everything just seems to fall into place and I can be 100% happy. Usually a good day has something of a varying degree of problems or whatever that brings me down, even just a tiny bit, but today's been just perfect in pretty much every way.
