RL things I love

I read this today and it melted my cold, robotic, feline heart.
"Yes, male characters tend to be idealized in form and proportion; but female characters tend to be objectified. There is a profound difference between those two, and failing to perceive that distinction is pernicious. That's why you'll rarely see a male superhero without pants." -- J. Michael Straczynski.

I'm old enough to remember (and looooove) when LL Cool J was a rapper.
And young enough to find Vin Diesel has put out two singles. Two.
I love Spotify.
-
@moth I am still boggled and tickled both by the fact that my kids' generation only knows Snoop Dogg as 'that dude that bakes with Martha Stewart' and not 'hardcore rapper that was put on trial for murder while smoking enough weed to kill a blue whale'.
-
@moth I represent Queens, she was raised out in Brooklyn...
-
@too-old-for-this He has also started getting involved with wine. I found this out when ordering booze for delivery yesterday.
But I wanted cheap fruity wine to get low class wasted on, and didn't try them.
-
@macha You know, I'm not usually a wine person.. but there are a few of those that I would really be interested in trying. I wish they offered a flight option for small servings with multiple choices.
-
@too-old-for-this the tasting notes sound delicious to /me/, but my tastes are not everyone's.
Why not get a couple people over who might be curious, and open a bottle? Chances are good someone will like it.
I don't know how old your kids are, but if they are teens, you could maybe let them try a small bit, and explain to them the whole crimes connection to the D - O - G -G.
-
@macha I have no friends in the state I live in, I'm afraid. My older son is of legal drinking age already but lives in another state, and my youngest will be 18 in a few weeks but has no interest in alcohol.
-
@too-old-for-this I mean, it's good the kid has no interest... I guess?

I have had Snoop Dogg's wine.
I really cannot recommend, but I didn't go blind.
-
@ganymede Which one did you try?
-
19 Crimes, California Red.
-
@ganymede Good to know!
-
@ganymede But the questions are - why? And are you usually a red drinker who likes the wines mentioned in the blend.
Yeah, I'm nosy. ..or just wanting to know to make notes.
-
Little body. After taste lingers. Not a distinct, rich flavor.
I like my reds like I like my women: firm, full-bodied, and able to punch the shit out of you.

Well, now, you should meet me PC. Seriously, if I ever met her, I would fuck the shit out of her.
And probably get killed.
