... How many books do you have on that thing?!
I never delete anything from my Kobo and it's barely at 30%. I've had it for years. Books are relatively small files!
-
36x6. And that is with several books already archived.
So 216 books.
I've had my nook for 10 years. I honestly love it to death. It is hard to cuddle in bed with a regular book, and harder to travel. My nook though? I've got hundreds of titles and if I see something in an airport bookstore I want I don't have to juggle my things to get to fit, I just buy it with my e-reader. My standard "gift" is a bn gift card kthanks upon which I blow and gobble books.

Brandon Sanderson: I hate you so much.
I just finished Rhythm of War.
Now I need to go reread all of the cosmere books because there was so much cross world connection that I can't not.
Ugh. IT IS SO MANY BOOKS. (I am not actually complaining.)
I will not be reading anything else for the next few months. Excuse me as I cancel every loan at the library.
-
@silverfox I'm not through the book yet but have had to check some wiki stuff one names that I couldn't quite place. It's been years since some of those things were mentioned.
I already have the cosmere short story anthology on queue for after I finish to catch-up on some things I don't remember reading about the first time through.
-
I def. had to google a few names, especially at the start as I tried to remember who all everyone was just on Roshar, let alone the rest of the cosmere.
-
@silverfox Finally finished it. immediately went back to re-read (listen) to Secret History of Mistborn and the White Sand story. Parts of that made so much more sense now.
-
@wildbaboons RIGHT?!
-
I swore I was going to go back and reread everything after finishing Rhythm of War.
Turns out I hadn't finished the Wax and Wayne Mistborn books. So I just did and and am now freaking the fuck out.
-
@silverfox I am... one hour of audio away from ... starting ... Rhythm of War. >.>
-
sobs in a corner
I neeeeeed someone to talk with. Who has read everything (except White Sands which I'm weirdly having problems accessing?)
Like, legit, SOMEONE I WILL NOT SPOIL THINGS FOR.
-
Pretty sure I've read all the stuff (except for White Sands graphic novel)
The only thing you would spoil are things I've forgotten.

THINGS
I just fished Cytonic and I have so many feelings and I don't know how to separate them out.
It is like being attacked by your best friend who just betrayed you but it was for your own good so you are proud of them in a distant way but you also hurt like hell for right now.
-
I absolutely loved The Way of Kings.
Most of Sanderson's books are at least high quality despite him putting new ones out like a machine gun.
My one complaint is that he lets his mechanics and plot take over from characterization. Especially his romantic relationships feel shallow (to me).
-
I wonder, a little, if some of the shallowness comes from the fact that his books are squeaky clean when it comes to sex.

Maybe it is because modern relationships seem very shallow and mechanical.

I think a lot of it has more to do with him being a Mormon. I've complained forever that he couldn't handle morally grey characters as well, everything in his storytelling felt very black and white, good v. evil, like there was hardly anything in between. And when he finished Wheel of Time, the one character of the core three who was one of the more complicated characters? He struggled a lot with and Mat is NOT the same character as he was in Books 4-11 after Jordan found his way with that character.
-
@rucket Yeah. Considering how some people here feel about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I was avoiding saying it.

Sorry, I'm not meaning it in a demeaning way. It's just that I kind of think his worldview stunts him in some areas of his writing. The man does really good work, I just think there are aspects that he could really work on. Besides, I am thankful he finished the Wheel of Time if nothing else.

I really don't think it's anything particular to LDS. The same criticisms could be levied against pretty much any modern organized religion, and have been, by the same people.
If you replace "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" with just "Church" it would probably be more accurate. Catholics and evangelicals have taking way more of a bruising here for basically the same criticism. So I wouldn't take it too personally. There is a LOT to be said both in favor of and against most modern religions.
But that's likely a topic for another thread. Just wanted to put that out there real quick because -- yeah. It sucks feeling singled out, or personally attacked. But I don't think that's what's really happening there.
