      Thank you. She's not suffering now and she had an awesome life with us after we rescued her, I think. Stubborn Scottie to the end though; her ears were up, she was wagging her tail and still investigating the office when we took her in. Just need to give the daughter even more love and attention, as they had never been separated more than one wanting to go outside and the other stayed inside. And that was just a way to get more cookies because you can't give something to one and not the other. πŸ™‚

        Thank you, Suicide Squad adverts, for proving that Bohemian Rhapsody can be ruined if you take it far enough out of context without providing juxtaposition or consideration to either source materials. You might as well have overlaid OMFG's Hello. It would have worked just as well.

          @Thenomain I just watched to the aforementioned trailer with the aforementioned song overlaid. It actually improves it.

            @Admiral

            This is an objectively provable falsehood. Bohemian Rhapsody is diminished by its misuse here, which amazes me since it's such a strongly thematic song that you'd have to be socially tone-deaf to screw up at this level. What, did Warner Bros. hire an advertising team of hipsters? Did they use the asset this badly ironically?

                "It actually improves it." Yup, checked that for clear comparison about five times before posting. "It" is not clear, but sometimes, a pronoun is just a pronoun and even if we're agreeing then I still get a chance to make fun of the advertising decisions again without insulting Admiral, and so I took it.

                You might want to check for a slipped sense of humor.

                    It's so satisfying to see someone get sassy about how careful they are when they have misunderstood something. Hate when it happens to me, but lawls.

                            Someone told me I'm a bad feminist because I dislike Harley in Suicide Squad. Because, you know, a woman comparing her vagina to a clown car is TOTALLY PROGRESSIVE. And she's an obnoxious, fanservicey version of TEEHEE I HAVE ISSUES LULZ.

                              Ugh. I'm hoping that she ends up better than she's been in the trailers, especially because Harley was originally created and written so smartly in Batman: TAS. She's gotten really twisted into unfortunately fanservice over the years. (And the number of people who legitimately idolize her relationship with Joker...)

                                  Everything was better in Batman: TAS. I have zero interest in Suicide Squad, but now I want to watch it all again.

                                    I wouldn't go so far to say that Harley was ever written smartly, but she's one of the more interesting creations out of B:TAS. And, yes, B:TAS made Batman better.

                                      I'd say that she was a good look at a woman in the midst of an abusive relationship who eventually found her way out of it.

                                        She never really gets out of it, though. At least, not in the original seasons.

                                        She wasn't originally calculated to be that way. She was invented to be a foil to Robin: a fluffy, useless character. She changed into something more once Timm and Dini realized her potential, of course.

                                        But smartly? I don't really think so. Relative to Matt Hagen or Victor Fries, she's shallow, in my opinion.

                                          But she's definitely been made worse. In some of the comics, she has had arcs (here and there; they can be rare) with real, actual depth. Some of the justifications for her Suicide Squad costumes... 'We want to show that she's owning her sexuality.' I mean, OK. I kind of get that? But at the same time... Not many women (if any) are gonna go to the theater and think 'girl power' with those outfits. They're going to sigh about yet more fanservice.

                                          This especially stands out in memory. Hate the outfit, but otherwise...

                                            If she's been made worse, that's another issue. I'm merely disputing that she was smartly written in B:TAS, or was calculated to be so. It's really not until the second and third seasons that Harley gets out on her own, and, even then, her relationship with Mr. J is less about abuse and more from sheer crazy.
