Or maybe, if there are people who aren't creeps at the table, the creeps could leave. That would be swell.

Sometimes that happens. Often it's women who boot other women from the table (or they don't get invited back), because part of the problem is getting women on board with their notions of sexism at the gaming table. But even beyond that, it's been my experience that women are the harshest critics of other women at the gaming table. Reading this forum, it might even reinforce that impression in regard to online role-playing.

All right, let's break this down.

You misunderstand. It's an endorsement not criticism. She doesn't require excuses.

Now sit down and shut the fuck up, you're embarrassing yourself.

I'd be embarrassed to post the above sentence.

Reads the past 100 or so entries all pissed off. Finishes. Decides to grab a beer, and popcorn, to re-read and enjoy. No longer angry.

I don't know. It confuses the hell out of me. Especially like a hole in your ear that, if you don't wash it, smells literally like bad cheese.

@somasatori I get more people that don't brush their teeth than that, but yeah. Just gross all around.

@Miss-Demeanor Yeah, I don't quite understand that either. Basic hygiene seems like it should just be a thing everyone does. Maybe I'm just really anal about it, but I tend to shower multiple times a day, especially if I'm working out or something sweat-inducing. That's another thing that kind of bothers me, the people that go to the gym or go running and just smell like that awful human stench all day. It's not even BO, it's just that stale, stank skin smell. 😐

@somasatori Oh yeah. I work at Wal-Mart, so I get it from Employees AND customers. It doesn't help that our store is apparently going to attempt to brave a Florida summer -without air conditioning-.

@Miss-Demeanor I thought that was illegal? I thought you had to have air conditioning in place during the summer in Florida so that your customers didn't succumb to heat and humidity?

Well supposedly there is some middle ground, I shower every other day or so unless I go to the gym or whatever. But I also somewhat subscribe to the notion that people overdoing the washing, sterilizing, hand sanitazing etc is part of why we're getting more allergies etc, and that we need to come into contact with some of the stuff.

I also live in Sweden rather than some humid jungle hellscape though.

I live in California. We don't have enough water for showers every day. You have to accept that sometimes people are just going to smell in the summer.

@Lithium Not sure, but the store technically has air conditioning, you just will never feel it up at the front of the store... which is where 90% of the people are crammed at any given time.

@Olsson If I'm not working, and not going anywhere, and can stay in my nice air conditioned house? I will skip a shower now and then. But I -do- live in some humid hellhole landscape, and while I understand that sweat is going to happen... there's a difference between someone being a little sweaty because its 85-90 degrees outside with 110% humidity and there's not so much as a whisper of a breeze, that's what deodorant is meant to help combat... and someone who walks into the store on a 76 degree balmy breezy perfectly lovely day and smells RANK because they can't be bothered to wash their ass or their hair and they haven't brushed their teeth in MONTHS and their clothes have nasty stains on them. The former is understandable. The latter is being a nasty fucking person that sadly, my job requires me to get within smelling distance of.

The Walmart, on Morse Road, near Easton in Cbus always smells like BO, infection, and unwashed people. You walk in the front doors and it assaults you like a SWAT Team kicking in the door to a drug den.

If you visit Cbus or live there. Avoid that Walmart.

There was this one guy and his wife who'd come into the store every so often. Fortunately, it would usually be just him alone instead of the two of them together. We not so affectionately called him the cat man. He (and his wife) smelled horribly of cat piss. Constantly. Every. single. time. My desk was a good ten feet away from the counter and any time he came in, I'd have to stop work and go into the back. Quite literally, my eyes would start tearing even though I'd position my fan to blow the air away from me. The boss never asked me why I wasn't working, it was that bad. I don't know how he managed to stand a foot away from him. And he and his wife together were more than I could stand.

Hey maybe you live near a lake or something, but over here we actually have letters from the water company that basically state showers should be taken every other day. If you have a large family stagger them so not everyone pulls water in the same day.

                                    ...

On the other hand it also encourages us to share showers if comfortable with that option so there is that bonus?

It's important to be at your freshest when you're fighting against the widespread systematic abuse of power intrinsic to large governmental systems. No one seems to get this.

Edit to add: I'm too old to be an anarchist anymore. The best I can do now is flee into the woods, grow a beard, and become an existentialist.

I shower after workouts always and once a day, usually, no matter what. Showering multiple times a day every day seems like it would strip your skin depending on the soap you used.

Of course I hit the sauna a lot and go for full sadistic Korean auntie scrub down every 6 weeks. I think both just kind of make you feel cleaner (and certainly give you fantastic skin) from the inside out.

I interned in public health and did a semester volunteering at the necropsy lab at the vet school while getting my bachelors degree. I think between that and children and gamer teens I'm immune to most human smells. Ironically I can deal with/adjust to bo and ass/old diseased fish stick smell or cat piss/anal glands problem a lot more than people (be they college kids on rush week or old southern ladies with their sense of smell not being what it used to) dousing themselves in perfume/cologne. There's something in that that gives me insta-migraine and nausea, esp if doesn't work with their body chemistry or they're using it to cover up body odor. 😞
