      xfnyc.riverdark.net:2045

The year is 2045. Advancing technology has given us aircars, interactive holodisplays, and medigel. There are over 200,000 mutants in New York City alone.

In the past several decades, public opinion and public policy has turned steadily against mutant-kind. The government's attempt at a mutant spy force went up in flames five years ago after a disaster that destroyed most of Staten Island. Following the death of Charles Xavier last year, the vigilantes known as the X-Men have recently agreed to disband in order to keep Xavier's School - now run by the state - an open haven for adolescent mutants. New York's mutants largely live in the ghettoized Mutant Town, the only place happy to rent to and employ mutants.

This is the world that has helped to form Revelation, the mutant terrorist group that's embraced violence beyond anything the Brotherhood ever caused.

This is the world that has forced mutants from all walks of life together to form X-Factor Solutions, a Mutant Town business that offers whatever mutant services its employees can offer. They'll find your lost car keys... or provide highly-skilled bodyguards. Or anything in between, as long as you're paying.

The world may want to reject them. But that doesn't mean it doesn't /need/ them.

X-Factor is a brand new second-generation X-Men movieverse game with a cyberpunk feel. We are a roleplay-focused game with a friendly atmosphere and a playerbase that loves to hang out and chat. We use Faraday's FS3 system for chargen and combat.

Get in on the ground floor! X-Factor Solutions opens its doors soon!

Have to admit that I always felt FS3 would work well for a comic/hero-themed game. Will peek in at some point, give things a look-see.

We've just wrapped our first big plot, which makes now a great time to join up!

It's been a rough winter in Mutant Town. Months spent trying to dodge a branch of the mutant-heavy Russian mafia intent on staking out territory in New York ended quite literally in flames - but not before several mutants in the NYPD's Mutant Affairs department lost their jobs after a public outting and any number of Mutant Town residents got caught up in the turf war.

Then a blizzard left most of Mutant Town without power for days.

Spring approaches, though, and surely things will start looking up. With the mafia locked up or chased back underground, business is picking back up for the newly-established X-Factor Solutions, which promises to solve problems big or small. Employees are starting to see real money, and sometimes the jobs are even more interesting than unloading boxes or playing courier.

Of course, sometimes 'interesting' isn't a good thing.

@Roz Are you running two games or did your Transformers one close down? If you're running two, kudos, that's impressive.

            • take care of yourself, kid. 'cause someone really cares about you.

@Nein TLF is still going strong! I am indeed on staff on two different games. I kind of have different focuses on both of them, and they're both on the smaller side and have several staffers. I just look the most impressive because I post the most here out of any of the staffers. 😉

                  You don't. @Roz is a fame glutton.

This place still alive? Only two people connected at the moment, thought about trying to figure out FS3 in my insane desire for a comic book themed mush that isn't pure consent.

                            Definitely still alive!

The bulk of us tend to be in the US, and somewhere between 3:30 AM to 6:30 AM on a Sunday morning (depending on timezones!) is not what you would call prime time. Obviously. I went looking for our mudstats page to give you a better idea of our most active hours only to discover we don't have one yet, because the last game added was added 150 days ago.

A better measure of activity might be the logs page -- http://xfnyc.riverdark.net/wiki/Category:Logs -- and if you haven't checked out our consent policies, I would -- http://xfnyc.riverdark.net/wiki/RP_Policies#Consent. We're limited consent, which is a very fuzzy middle ground between pure consent and no consent.

Yeah, you probably just caught us before people really start connecting. Like, right now we've got about 11 players connected, which is a fairly typical look at a Sunday afternoon. Tez is right that our logs page is a good indicator -- pretty much every scene gets posted -- and if you're super curious we have a staffer who loves putting spreadsheets together and literally makes graphs of our log numbers by week and month to see how we're doing.

I KNEW THAT WOULD BE USEFUL ONE DAY.

@Tez At this point... there is not a single non-consent super game around I can find. Even Champions has consent to an extent. I guess I'll check it out again now that it is not 6 AM EST.

X-Factor Solutions just celebrated a milestone - an entire year of being open without succumbing to the Russian mob, the mutant terrorist organization Revelation, out-of-control plants, swords and sorcery, an alien invasion, or bankruptcy.

Not that it was ever built to withstand such things. X-Factor was meant to be a mutant temp agency, the sort of place that did odd jobs and provided a little extra cash at a time when finding well-paying work as a mutant presented a challenge.

No plan withstands first contact with the enemy, though, and it turns out that there are still plenty of enemies out there, whether you're a mutant or not. There's all the usual stuff, like restless Friends of Humanity members looking for scapegoats and a community full of people who turn to less savory occupations to make ends meet, but lately in Mutant Town, it's been more.

Lately, the fabric between worlds has started to thin.

The first rift led X-Factor into a cosmic conflict on a galactic scale, tearing apart widely-held beliefs about how Staten Island ended up in rubble six years ago. The second one spilled out into a war-torn fairy tale. Now the government's come knocking, asking the questions that are on everyone's minds:

Two rifts, so close together, so soon?

What's happening to the walls between dimensions?

And is anyone ready to handle it?

I have a character on there I haven't touched in a while. Maybe I should give it another go.
