I love to watch someone edit things live. Seeing them edit things twelve times after the fact is great. But sometimes you're not there to see the party, it would be nice to know a post was edited after the fact. Sometimes people edit things so other peoples comments appear out of context, or to hide something they were called out on. Sometimes they think of something clever in rebuttal minutes or hours after their initial lame comment. Other times it's mundane...

So I'm suggesting timestamps or a history like wiki's!

Because as we all know the internet is real serious business.

There's a little black boxed in pencil icon next to the "about an hour ago" or whatever timestamp that shows if a post has been edited, how long ago, and by whom. If you hover on it.

The only way to capture what someone wrote at any given time is to quote them. We won't be doing wiki edit/history revisions, though.

I edit my stuff twelve times in a row because I don't revise in my head before posting.

I will admit I'm confused because judging from the post in: Tastes Less Gamey...

I'm tired of Grammar Nazi's on Facebook, forums, in games and generally in places it doesn't matter.

I have brain damage, I have nerve damage. Sometimes it's too much god damn work to type correctly. Fuck you buddy! I'll type how I want and you can fuck off and find some other way to express your egotistical self perceived superiority.

In theory I'd assume @DnvnQuinn would be editing posts all the time? Then we potentially would look at all the edits to then laugh? Or whatever you do when you miss out on watching the edit happen live?

Eh, might just be a culture thing. Perhaps I am showing my age, but it used to be that doubleposting on a forum was seen as rude or something you're not supposed to do. Like the board equivalent of someone who were to keep posing without waiting for anyone else to and/or who had to after every single pose by someone else. It's weird.

I do agree that editing a post once there have been other published comments behind it, when it occurs, is weird to me without a ETA: comment. Though sometimes it's hard to see if/when other comments have been added, especially when folks are on their phone or whatever. If this is a peeve of yours it does explain your fussing at me earlier though. Good to know!

I was on a board where the editing became a problem. The problem was certain people who edited the content of their posts to say something completely different, and sometimes days or weeks after the fact. Most people appreciate the function to fix spelling errors or reword things to make themselves better understood. Anyway their solution was to limit editing to a couple hours after posting.
