Cheap or Free Games!

Anyone have Tabletop Simulator? I'm /considering buying it. Though, if no one else has it/is interested in it.. I doubt I will. Seems like a total with your friends game.
-
@icanbeyourmuse Could be worth it just to flip the table. I've always wanted to do that but I'm far too shy and reserved to do anything like that IRL.
-
Shit. Table flipping is cathartic. Especially with rat bastards that cheat in Monopoly.

Don't give me characters to play with, build up, and get attached to and then just be like "Oh hey, sorry, those guys are on hold while you play with these other assholes you have no investment in, and you can't proceed unless you do."
I felt the same way with those scenes with Frodo and Sam in the Return of the King.
Look, I get it: you really didn't like Squall. Not everyone did, and that's fine. Some people had no attachment to Laguna, and really didn't like the flashbacks to him. That's fine too. But to say that it didn't feel like a Final Fantasy game doesn't make much sense to me because fucked-up, grandiose storylines are what the franchise is known for.
I mean, did you really give that much of a shit about Cloud or Zidane? I didn't -- at all. The average FF-player likely preferred Sephiroth or Freya in the respective games, and Seifer was just all sorts of cool. So what?
Criticize the game where it counts. Calling it "not feeling like a Final Fantasy" just sounds stupidly flimsy to me, like the way people feel about not vaccinating their kids.
-
Seifer was a whiny man-child who never did anything even remotely cool except star in a game with really good FMVs. He wasn't even the villain, just a big kid throwing an extended temper tantrum, and without the actual intent or volition to actually BE a villain.
Also Zidane was awesome, so boo to you. Cloud was basically a cypher, left blank for the player to project onto, so meh on him. Yuffie was my favorite FF7 character, followed closely by Cid.

Sure, by that logic Spirits Within was just fine for a Final Fantasy movie, even if it was bad. Except it wasn't, and is pretty much universally reviled not just for being not such a great movie, but for having the Final Fantasy logo tacked onto it despite not feeling at all like a Final Fantasy story.
You can call it flimsy all you like, but that's my biggest beef with 8, and why it's my least favorite FF title. Well, that and the Laguna flashback bullshit. >_<

For those WORAites on a budget, gog.com has some games up to 90% off for now. The discounts seem to run 5-90% off.
-
Thanks for the look, SS.

You are welcome. I would put up a list, but it's a pretty big chunk of games and I suspect that would enter spamalicious territory.

This is why he was the perfect foil for Squall. There's not much to either of them.
There are plenty of reasons why FF:TSW shouldn't have had the Final Fantasy name attached to it, none of which have to do with "not feeling like a Final Fantasy." There was, for one thing, the absolute lack of anything remotely "fantasy" about it, as far as the genre was concerned. No chocobos, recognizable magic, magnificent swords -- nothing. Final Fantasy 8 had all of that.
I mean, seriously, are you even trying to make cogent arguments any more? Like, holy shit, you are getting useless, old man.
You can't honestly tell me that FF8 was any worse than FF7: Dirge of Cerberus. And FF15 is looking like a whole lot of nothing.
-
I found the camera angles so terrible in Dirge of Cerberus I didn't play it past the opening.

Syndicate is Free right now on Origin.
-
I think they milked FF7 spinoffs a little hard...
-
GOG is having their version of a Woot-Off. Two games up at a time at about 50% off, limited purchases, then they move on.
(edit: fixed link)

Greenman Gaming has this thing going on where if you buy one Rezzed game, you get 5 free.
-
Greenman Gaming has 75% off all their civilization titles, as well as the opportunity to get an additional 20% on top of that. (It's a code I have, came in the email so I'm not honestly sure if it's on top of or not, but I'm not going to use it, so I can give it to someone if they are going to try anyway.)
GoG has some classic shooters on sale for up to 70% off. (They also have a lot of free games as well, just for signing up)
Origin is still giving Syndicate away for free too!

My like is cheaply bought when it comes to not shit games. Especially when they are free! That means I don't have to give EA any money. I don't know why, but they make it painful to try and give them money.
-
The only thing that Origin gets me with is The Sims. I like to cheat in oodles of monies and build houses. And turn on the abilities not to ever lose stats.

My last attempt to buy a game on Origin, grudgingly, ended in five credit card processing errors in a row and me ordering my first physical disk I've bought in about three years from Amazon, because fuck that. This probably has something to do with the hacker who tried to use my account to buy a bunch of copies of FIFA a few months ago (unsuccessfully, I will at least give their security people props for that). I do more online shopping than my wallet would like me to, and I've never encountered more annoyances with actually purchasing shit than I do with Origin.

The Humble Store is giving away a copy of Spec Ops: The Line whenever you buy a 2K game (Which are all on sale right now. Even Spec Ops: The Line) Humble is also having a Bethesda Weekend Sale, and a Sega Weekend Sale. (Steam also has Sega on Sale right now as well)
