@grayson I mean, technically you haze the new people by having them do that. No one licks bone twice in the field cause there's better ways to do it.
Unless they really want to.
But seriously it really really REALLY upsets the locals if they hear about it.

And archeologists lick rocks to find out if they're bone.
Ask me about the time I licked something just to find out later it was actually a chunk of ancient human fat

And if you don't have a "handful of infant bones" story and a "oh my god they killed a cobra like what" story, you never actually worked in the Egyptian delta.

@tek Over in Israel we had scorpions and ants that had learned to carry their butts high in the air so they LOOKED like scorpions and scared the crap out of every new volunteer for the first two weeks.
Over in Crete we just had racism against Armenians. And every once in awhile someone would fall over going to lift up a heavy rock that turned out to be pumice from the Thera eruption. Never got old. Well, the racism did. Fast. That dig was so fucked up.

When you have an idea and everyone else seems to like an idea and they want to do your idea even though it's actually kind of a boring idea but it's an idea and it seems fine despite on paper being rather boring.

Everything about this duel.

When you see a few people so you wander over and it's an event and they're cheerful and nice and welcoming and
there's possibly a little pinch of magic stuff going oneverything is just extremely chill and you have a very pleasant time.Scenes like this are why I love Arx so much.

Heeheehee. I'm glad you came.

The sea battle. That scene was EPIC and BADASS. I laughed multiple times, shrieked with glee so loud I startled my cats AND my son, and even teared up once or twice. I am so glad for everyone that was there, and for the staff that ran it. You guys are all rockstars and that was possibly one of the best events I've ever been in!

I got to do a super cool thing and also be a prickly cactus of a doctor
Ty herja and crawfish for doing so much and putting up with so much from all of us! It was an incredible event, and I'm looking forward to seeing the results unfold
As well as finding out what cardians were doing on our side

That was literally my first scene on the grid with this character I had just picked up on a whim after being away from Arx for like, a solid year? I had absolutely no idea that was going to happen. I logged in the night before for the first time and House peeps were like, "so, gonna go to the war tomorrow?" And I was like
Lol.
But holy shit, it reminded me that, wow, this hobby can be tremendously fun and tense and challenging, and like every single player there was on their A-Game and staff did an amazing job. Good stuff.

I stand by what I posted.

Coming out the other side of burnout is a glorious thing. The light at the end of the tunnel was NOT a train!

For whomever that took a clumsy idea that I had like - I dunno how long ago - and remade a roster with that idea that literally makes me ^_^ every time I see it.
