RE: RL Anger
an obvious moment of getting sidetracked by their dick in the middle of a normal conversation. That's a instinctive (if culturally trained) reaction...
I think women often forget that men getting sidetracked by their dicks is biological and not cultural. Now there's creepy behaviour which IS cultural and can be corrected ... leering, whistling, etc ... but honestly, sometimes we just notice things about another person and THE DICK takes over briefly. Its hardwired into us.
I mean... I am a man ... who likes dick ... and I can honestly say, the super secret that everyone actually knows, men do think about sex. A. Lot. And I'm not even very sexual and been purposefully celibate for 15 years. That doesn't mean I am able to turn off that biological part of me that goes "I'd tap that."
Sorry for the mansplaining (this thread is bringing the diva out in me), but it would be nice if society would stop telling men they're evil because they're biologically wired to get a stiffy and are incapable of controlling it.

RE: I will design you a MUX
I think Chronicles ruleset is really good for a more historical setting, but it needs to be focused and specialized in its theme. Imagine something like the old CryptMUX. Just creating an historical based WoD game set in any time period isn't enough. It will just degenerate as theme is continually ignored by players and staff alike.
A focused setting where the theme is well detailed and the structure of the setting is established by staff in such a way as to provide a guide for all players.
I remember many years ago, I thought about creating a Dark Ages game set in Prague. I did thorough research and as I developed the setting realized that I had to make sure that the structure of the setting was established in such a way that there was no question that A or B was the way a vampire, for instance, would view the power dynamic in the city.
I think they're not done often because most people when thinking of creating such a game have the realization of how much work it will actually be but it can work. I've said it many times that I'd play the shit out of a CryptMUX type game using Chronicles rules.
I think @Thenomain is right though. Either you throw a veneer over it, but otherwise accept that its going to be a City by Night type game or you apply some kind of fantasy or alt-history twist to it to make the setting actually work. I'd prefer the latter.

RE: I miss WoD
Fear & Loathing: Come to us ... come to us ... come to us ....
Also the good thing is that sphere RP is rather integrated, so Mortal+ get plenty of involvement in the other sphere's RP and such. If you're interested in some Psychic RP or such, happy to help find you some character hooks with Book, one of my characters

RE: RL Anger
FFS.... I can't remember the last time someone used the word 'oriental' to describe a person. I think most anyone under an age knows not to use the word. Its used for objects, period. And anyone who does use it incorrectly are easily corrected.
As for Asian ... yeah its used to describe people from Asia. So what? It has nothing to do with ethnicity or culture. Its about coming from a continent. And in everyday speech, I've always heard people refer to Indians as Indians, South-east Asians as ... wait for it ... South-east Asians, and Pacific Asians as Pacific Asians. Generally the only people who are referred to just as Asian are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, or those South-east Asian countries where there are a lot of those ethnicities (like the Phillipines or Signapore and the like). Its not meant as an insult, has never been an insult and to fabricate it as one in today's stupidly hyper-sensitive world of microaggression idiocy is just annoying.
Lemme guess .. you call white people white ALL THE TIME. Well fuck you for being so insensitive with your microaggression.
People need to fucking chill out and KNOW IN CONTEXT when a term being used to describe them is being used as an insult or not. 95% of the time, its not. Chill.

RE: I will design you a MUX
@skew said in I will design you a MUX:
So. CofD rules for Fallout-world MU? You ready to help @tragedyjones?
I remember a conversation a couple of years ago with some people on Reach in which we discussed how interesting it would be to play a post-apocalyptic WoD game, with shifters scouring the wastelands, vampire conclaves that used humans as stock animals, mage sanctuaries, etc. It could work if designed right.

RE: Difficulty of single-player computer games
This exactly for me. I'll up the difficulty on a single-player story-driven game at first, but if I find that the experience of the story is being disrupted, I'll bring that down.
CK2 and the like ... yeah. Difficulty up. I play the shit out of those games (1922 hours on CK2 according to Steam).
@Tinuviel said in Difficulty of single-player computer games:
Depends on the game.
If it's more story-driven, I err towards the easier side of the spectrum (though normal difficulty is usually fine) as I don't want to be without story just because I can't beat the Firey Thresher Maws of Doom or whatever.
If it's a strategy game (big fan of Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis IV, for instance) I turn the difficulty way, way up. Because I hate myself and want to see what happens. -
RE: RL Anger
@Ganymede I do use the terms correctly. I've managed to make it through my decades without offending anyone with racial terms. Amazing. What offends me is people creating new and interesting ways of being offended. The whole "Microaggressions exist within a context of power binary" ... actually fuck off. That kind of stupid shit is what is making academia a toxic, poisonous pool of immature stupidity.

RE: Fading Suns 2017
Well... because it was necro'ed ....
@Faceless @BobGoblin @Songtress @Ganymede @Apollonius
There are two Atarus. The one on that SW game mentioned above in the thread is not me.
I am the one who worked on the Dune game. Which is still up and I've actually been fiddling with it over the last couple of weeks. Maybe it will get off the ground. It won't require much, though I still don't know what and if a game system will be used.
Also thank you @golgoth for the link, I think I'll pick those up as they may prove useful. Cheers!

RE: RL Anger
@Auspice There are many many examples that one could find of this. That was rather a public one. So was the one where students who were Classics majors protested learning Ovid's Metamorphosis because it had rape in it. Guess what ... you're a Classics major. Deal. I'm a rape victim. I studied Classics. I dealt. If you can't deal, find something else.
its the many instances that don't get reported, that are ignored by the media and just allowed to happen with no fanfare. For every instance like that you see in a journal, there are a hundred more happening elsewhere.

RE: Savior of the Universe: Flash AhhhhAAA!
I'd say if you can track this down, it might help. The key I think is there is a lot of conflating of information from the books, comics, tv shows and movie and determining what is 'canon' or what you'd use for your game. Luckily, I think the Mongoverse is interesting enough that you can play around with that a lot.

RE: Fate's Harvest BETA Live (Full Open Soon)
@TNP I play on Fate's Harvest and Fear & Loathing ... both are entertaining. NO big red flags so far as I can tell. If you're going for Changeling, obviously FH is focused on that. Fear & Loathing has a growing Changeling sphere and is looking for some particular roles. You can log on there to find out more.
As for FH, since its their thread, I give a thumb's up personally
