I did redditgifts for pets. My santa got me a cat tree! With how much Ike loves to perch and watch out the window, that's AWESOME. And with how rambunctious this kitten is- double awesome!

I'm about to assemble it, so I'm sure pics to come.

Additionally, a good friend of mine back in SC took up beekeeping last year. She sent me a jar from her first harvest:

If you have to explain it as such, perhaps it wasn't.

Maybe not a good one, alas.

Is this thread tangent my punishment in MU?

No, your punishment is that you're still here all these years later, talking about the same things with the same people and getting the same answers.
      definition of insanity

Is it really a punishment if everyone else is also suffering it? Does punishment necessitate it be the exception to the norm? Or can punishment be absolute? </philosophical coin>

Now we're just getting into S&M and we already have a thread for that.

The biggest issue now with Avalon Hill is 'do you have the hours in the day.' So many of their games take so damn long to play. 😄

Lady, I don't care how many times you bang out an angry email to my company... You didn't order from us so we literally cannot refund you.

I would, if I could, just to get you to go away, but you didn't make the order through us, so we cannot refund you! We've told you who you did order from, based on the information you gave us, so for the love of god contact them.

...the urge to order chicken & waffles delivery despite how damn poor I am is strong this morning.

    • RE: How to Approach (nor not) a Suspected Creep

I will note (and I appreciate people weighing in!) that in this scenario, there was nothing OOC. No OOC commentary or anything, because I absolutely would step in or speak up in that regard (I find OOC 'PDA' type stuff to be very awkward-making). It was all RP'd, but it just set off a few alarm bells in my head and something felt off about it all.

But I didn't know the others involved well enough to, as mentioned, say anything. Nor was it directed at me, so I didn't feel in a position to report anything. It was just a weird spot all around.

Next time (if there is one) I may just say something along the lines of 'Hey, if you'd like me to come over there and RP at you...' but we'll see.

I took a new position within my company.
It doesn't pay any better. In fact, once I factor in commuting, I'll make less.
But it'll take me off a project that has been stressing me out and had me fighting outright quitting day after day (sometimes hour after hour).

I thought I did the right thing, because it'll have me working out of their local office. I'll meet people! I'll be doing something new!

But I haven't worked out of the house in 7 years.
I start on Tuesday and I'm so anxious about it that I'm sick.

If you are as charming and intelligent in person as you are online, the people in that office will be floored by you.

Here's cheering for your success from your BSG buddies! ^.^ ^.^. ^.^ Go Recon!

She is! You'll do great, Auspice.

Ok, so first -- you asked what we would do, if anything, and I told you what I would do and how I think as both a player and a staffer , so you wanna pull back the aggression a bit? I wasn't accusing you of doing anything, or telling you how to behave. I was telling you how I view it.

Second, if you come to me as a third party in the matter, my very first question is going to be did the other person say something to you? Because I truly don't believe it's not your place to police them, either. So you're right. I won't do anything because you're essentially asking me to police the fun of two other people, neither of which have said anything at all to me, even though I make it very clear that they can.

Different players have different standards that might differ from yours, or mine. That's fine. That's to be expected when dealing with homo sapiens. They're a strange creature.

Because your response is basically: 'I don't give a shit as a player or a staffer.'

This is how we have witnessed a few creepers in the hobby run rampant. Because of 'Well sure you have logs and evidence of this behavior and the threats against the victim, but the VICTIM hasn't said anything so......... welp. this person can keep doing what they're doing.'

    • RE: RL Anger

I'll just be over here in my corner eating pizza for dinner because bus home was a miserable mess.

Missed first bus (because rain gave me a hitch in my step leaving work).
Got all turned around at my swap to second bus, so I missed it.
Then my app crashed and I wasn't able to reload it to double-check what my stop was and when I finally worked up the nerve to ask the driver... I'd missed it, adding an extra half mile onto the mile I already had to walk from the stop to get home.

Really hope getting to work tomorrow is, uhm. Smoother. 😕

The work itself is fine. If I had a vehicle or I could afford Uber to/from every day, I'd be OK. It's definitely the bus part that's the bulk of my anxiety.

      @Auspice

That also isn't the scenario that you originally presented. Your scenario was 'I see behavior that I think might be creepy but I am afraid / don't know how to approach the other person about it'. Not 'person has come to me and said that something is making them uncomfortable'.

Those are two distinctly different scenarios. In the event that you come to me and say 'hey, person X says that they are uncomfortable with situation Y', I will thank you for bringing it to my attention and go speak to person X.

You're the one that brought 'as a staffer' into the discussion.
I began the discussion with 'as a player.' I was never discussing this from the staffing perspective. You came in, fists swinging, accusing people of behaving like children who need you to hold their hand and being, frankly, an asshole about it.

I witnessed something that made me incredibly uncomfortable and wondered hey, how have other people handled this as a player.

In theory I would be within right to report to staff based merely on that merit.

In practice, almost every Staffer I've ever encountered would laugh me out of the +job.

So I was asking people, from the perspective of a player.

You may have begun your post with 'as a player and a staffer,' but every part of it was from the lofty, condescending attitude of 'as a staffer, I expect people to....'

It did not approach the thread in the manner it was intended.

It was brought up that people have seen these games played on forums? I've personally only ever played 'live,' but if anyone's interested... I will look into the best ways to run it on a forum and facilitate a round or two.

      @Ghost
But by and far, MUs seem to consider 3rd parties as non-entities.

I've gone to Staff in the past to say 'Hey, here's a log/evidence in which my friend tells me that Dude is threatening her and is making her miserable and I have evidence of Dude engaging in bad behavior in other veins.'

And Staff's reply was: well, unless your friend reports it herself, we can't do anything. Sorry.

I know that's not an isolated incident. People have experienced that sort of thing all the time. MUs, by and far, feel that ONLY the victim can report. Witnesses cannot. Uncomfortable third parties cannot. Only the person receiving the harm.

And I guess that's the concern here: even if I page the person being targeted and they say 'yeah, I'm uncomfortable here, can you help me out?' .... I could step in, pose going over to them, buddying up, etc...........but that'd be the extent of it in most cases, sadly.
