Having to work on a holiday dedicated to recognizing the hard labor people do by giving them a day off of work.
Service industry gives no fucks.

@Auspice Not trying to burst your happy bubble, but I would double check that you get paid. When I was a contractor I didn't get paid for holidays off like that even if the office was closed.
Not saying you won't, in fact I hope you do, I just want you to make sure you know positively and can plan accordingly.
We have a meeting scheduled that day (tho I think it was just the algorithm keeping the daily meeting in place) so I had a 'wait does Labor Day not count as a...' and double-checked my offer letter.
Labor Day is one of the 6 paid holidays I get.
ETA: my last long-term job WAS one where I was technically a 'contractor who doesn't get paid holidays,' so I absolutely checked. XD
It just sank in that I get Labor Day off.....and it's a paid holiday.
I haven't had that in a decade. Three day weekend! And no loss in pay!
I'm gonna sleep so much.

So.
Serious question.
All of you who went through elementary school without meds. I've read a lot of literature and had training, but I'm wondering how some of that squares with the personal experiences of some of you.
What do you wish your teachers had done to help you? What did they do that hurt you?
I still remember my 2nd grade teacher fondly. She was interactive with all of us and did her best to spend time with us (I think there were 14 or 15 of us in the class). Her lessons were varied. I know that happens a lot with younger students (more interactive lessons, etc etc) but... she went above and beyond what even my first grade teacher there did. And if we were struggling with something, she found a way to work around it and come to an option that worked.
If we didn't like something we were given out of the random draw, she'd usually have a couple spares or we could find someone to trade with. Her ability and willingness to be flexible was great. I did really well in her grand because of the encouragement provided.
Third and Forth grade not so much. The two women who taught those has no time for those of us who didn't attend the school's church. It had to be done as it was done, full stop. The forth grade teacher resented me because I won entry to a state-wide math competition.... and then won. Beating her own son. Her resentment of me increased that yet. And anything I ever needed (focus-wise, or to enable what I was a strong learner in and needed MORE...) was just cast to the side. The school knew I read at a college level by the end of 2nd grade but my teachers after her didn't care.
Mrs Poole is who I look to as I study to be a teacher. I want to be warm, compassionate, and understanding as she was.

I woke up to my entire apartment smelling of acetone.
Best I've been able to find is that this can be caused by a refrigerant leak in the HVAC. Yay.
Maintenance request has been put in, but it's Sunday. No one's in the office on Sundays. And they provide no number for emergency maintenance (the old site they used had it listed but the new portal doesn't).
I really hope they don't pull their usual 'get to it in a few weeks after I've made a lot of angry calls.'
I mean, I'd be out just because of the algebra aspect.
Why even.
That said...... I'm someone who actually prefers the dice rolling and combat of D&D. MUing I prefer rp but put dice in my hands and I wanna use them as much as possible. (I also get very anxious trying to role play in person).....but I would usually try to be flexible with games that didn't meet my personal preference so long as I enjoyed the company.

Today's peeve, but one that happens on a semi-regular basis as a random encounter:
"Hey do you have a couple dollars I can have?"
"I don't carry cash."
commence 'bullshit' lookThis is why I buy virtually everything with a form of currency that isn't cash. I'm not an ATM.
I get this a lot too, but it baffles me because most people no longer carry cash.
I had someone pay me back for some stitching supplies I picked up for her and I just sort of stared at the bills and shoved them into the box with my threads. They're still there.
They will probably remain there until I need like, toll booth money for a road trip.

I have one strong rule, however: Don't force me into your kink.
'Exploring the psychology of a character' isn't bad, no. I didn't say it was.
I was saying it's a bad excuse to do exactly what your rule is about.
It was brought up in this very thread earlier, in the sense of: 'why is it so bad to want to RP underage sex if I want to explore the psychology of it.'
It's bad for many of the reasons you put forth and more.
I also don't think 'because I want to explore the psychology' is as valid when it comes to roleplay. Because you aren't exploring it on your own: you're dragging other people (sometimes unwillingly) along for the ride.
There are novels that involve teenagers having sex. It's limited because publishers aren't keen on having too much of it out there (and with how people will obsess over underage actors/their characters, is it any surprise? jesus I still remember all the 'I can't wait until she's 18 hurr hurr hurr' about Emma Watson), but it exists.
And the reason it's 'okay' is because it's written purely from the prospective of the teenagers and it's one person writing.
On games a lot of the time it's: Underage PC and Adult PC.
That's a yikes.
And justifying RPing pedophilia to 'explore the psychology' is also yikes because again: you're dragging other people (knowing or not).
