So I gave The Expanse another shot and now I'm midway through Season 3.

Wes Chatham, purportedly, is a huge fan of the books and all but demanded to play Amos.

Srsly tho their casting is absolutely on point which is part of why I love the show. Every character is just...

      I mean Bobbie is amazing.
Shohreh Aghdashloo is a goddess and I love her as Chrisjen and her portrayal makes me WANT MORE CHRISJEN as I'm reading the books.

Alex and his 'product of a planet that was primarily settled by India and Texas' is amazing and I'm so glad they left his drawl and mannerisms intact for the show.

......I have a lot of love for Expanse, book and show >.>

Aggravated Boredom. Nothing is stimulating my brain and I am mad about it. It's a terrible helples almost tantrum-y feeling where you just simmer while you are prevented mind stimulation for whatever reason.

I've spoken with @faraday about this exact feeling before.

There's a guy sitting across from me on the bus who looks like a total dude bro and is probably 18-20.

He is utterly absorbed in the copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince he is reading and it warms my cold heart.

@Auspice I battle this by taking minutes-style notes in every meeting. It works great until I realize I've been editing the notes for 20 minutes while the meeting kept happening.

      Yup.
That happened to me last week, in fact.
'Okay I'm gonna note this down- oh that reminded me of this other thing I need to notate but it also needs to be fleshed-out and cross-referenced- oh shit it's been 20 minutes what are they talking about- ok, back to notes- right! I have a note on this particular thing somewhere else lemme dig it up....'

There's a reason I've been spending part of my day, every day for the past week, listening to meeting recordings.

.... there are 4 recordings and I've only fully listened to 1. How do people do podcasts.

    • RE: The Work Thread

One of the things I'm struggling with right now is how to present some information/material.

I need to provide a 'software-level guide;' in the sense of an overall introduction to the tool. 'Clicking here does this,' 'these options can be found here'

and while a purpose-made tool (like, say, ClickHelp) would give me an awesome interface to do this..... I don't have that. I have to provide this in a flat, static layout.

And I am just rrrrrrrrrrrrrr-unable to find a way that isn't just puking info at the reader.

Making training materials intuitive is fucking hard.

My life is basically just cycling from 'Galaxy Brain' to 'i dont think u tried at all.jpg' to 'patrick star' and back.

Galaxy Brain is a great way to put it, man. I need to remember that.
It happens to me in meetings all too often.

@TNP I did, yes. They were specific about making sure I was in-network.

Then it might maybe be worth it to contact the doctor's office and let them know what's going on. It's possible they'll go to bat for you (at the very least you may be able to get something in writing that you were 'in-network' when you went).

I've had pretty good luck over the years of doctors being willing to help fight when the insurance company is being dumb.

@Cupcake I would absolutely appeal. It's their fault for not having removed the provider from the listing.

Might not actually be successful, but yeah. That'd be an escalation IMO. You followed their rules; they're the ones who weren't applying them correctly.

    • What do you enjoy about STing?

I was sitting here reflecting on how much fun I'm having STing on SGM and it brought to mind... for those that ST, why do you do it? What keeps bringing up back? It can't be just the desire to tell a story: there's got to be more (else you'd just tell it for yourself; write a short story; save it for a TT).

Some of the things off the top of my head that 'make it' for me:

      • Seeing people get into their characters and enjoy themselves.
      • Watching someone figure out what you've been dropping hints for.
      • On the other hand? Seeing someone get it utterly wrong and knowing what a fun ride it'll be when they figure that out.
      • The times when someone discovers something new about their character.
      • ...or even gets to just dive deeper into an aspect of their PC.

These are just some of the things I love. What about you? What has brought you joy in STing?

You would think that an emergency maintenance call first thing in the morning about a fucking chemical leak releasing fumes that are making me sick would get my apartment maintenance out.

      But no.
      Of course not.

So it's another night of fans and open windows (while it's 110F out) so I and my cats don't get horrendously ill.

@Auspice Yanno what holiday I like? Boxing Day.

The holiday where everyone who fucking worked on Christmas gets a day because we needed them on Xmas.

America should have a "Labor Day Two" for those people.

They'd just turn it into another sale day and make people work anyway.
