@Doozer Oh, lord, it so was. "Honey, you're gonna be staying with us for almost a month, and there's two things you should know. First, if you stay longer and it goes over a month, you need to throw in on dishes and laundry. Second, <Coke lecture>."
It that important in Atlanta.
It is the home of the Coca-Cola HQ.
...but also coke is just superior to pepsi in every way.

I do not understand why people get up in arms about pop/soda/Coke. Except that "Coke" is a proper noun and should not be used as a collective noun.
Now excuse me, my allergies are making me sneeze my head off. Hand me some kleenex while I google a remedy.
Someone who says "pop" sounds like they're going to meet that cute boy/girl from third period at a diner to split a banana sundae in 1956.
Calling it "coke" is dumb because I need to clarify if I actually mean a coke or if I mean something else to get the kind of soda I want. That doesn't apply to "Kleenex" because the only people who have ever or will ever give a shit if their tissues are Kleenex-brand are employed at Kleenex's marketing department, and it doesn't apply to googling things because a) it's a verb, no one calls Bing "a google" and b) obviously I am using Google.
lemme bing that

Also I say soda.
It's called Coke. They all called Coke.
Every month when I go to pay my bills I get Charter (Spectrum) and Comcast (Xfinity) confused.

@Auspice @Roz I spoke to an EEOC rep, and am now just waiting for a phone interview to finish filing the charge.
Good luck!

@Auspice Time and a half money?
Sadly my time spent here won't be time and a half.
But 8 hours normal pay + 8 hours holiday pay is still nice.
If the meeting were before lunch I could just do a half day, but it's at 3pm. CURSES.
@Tinuviel said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:
No, admin toadie, I cannot attend a meeting you suddenly decided that we needed. 1) I live an hour and a half away. 2) My workday doesn't start until eight-thirty am. You don't get my time before that without arranging it beforehand AND arranging to pay me. 3) I don't answer to you.
it's apparently 'I didn't want this meeting' day.
I need to sit down with a SME and it got scheduled for...... Monday afternoon.
As in 9/2.
As in Labor Day.
As in a day I was gonna enjoy having a paid day off and sleep a lot.
Now I'm just telling myself it's more money.

The remainder of us are trapped here until they finish one end or the other.
I'll be honest, I was mulling the 'how does this work' of such things recently. One of the roads I take to work is due to be closed for roadwork soon. They're 'scheduling' it for 9a-4p daily while it is, but I'm still ??? because there are businesses and homes both on it.
What if you work 2nd shift?
What about the profit loss for the businesses?
(They're indicating the WHOLE ROAD will be closed every day during that window for an indeterminate amount of time. Not just one lane or the other.)
@gryphter sorry, imperfection is only allowed for the people that aren't you.

Don't forget to change your band-aid.
(The super weird ones are those who refer to all soda as Sprite. who are you and how did you get so broken?)

Dont blame the guy, but the managers were being sarcastic about it.
Of course they were.
Can't micromanage someone who isn't there.

Fun facts:
POP is an onomatopoeia, but is also what people in the American Midwestern states incorrectly call soda.
You're from the midwest.
When I was 20/21. I had a job that stressed me tf out. One that leaned into Ohio's labor laws that didn't require any breaks being given out unless you worked more than 8 hours.
So it became the only way to get a break was to smoke because management were smokers.
I began smoking. I began smoking more.
I was very, very fortunate that the smoking was tied to the stress. Within a week of leaving that job, I'd quit smoking (I just found I had no interest). However, I do still get a craving for it when I'm drinking. Especially if the people around me are smoking, too. And I will sometimes, when I've been very stressed out, find myself buying a pack and having one or two a day until the source of stress goes away.
So, yes, I may be super evil in that the initial quitting was easy... but the triggers still exist and can be pretty strong. I try now to not drink with smokers, for example.
