RE: Good TV
Well, I just binge-finished season 3, and now I have to decide whether I'm going to read the books and spoil some of the best scifi I've ever seen on TV, or wait and risk having it spoiled.
...having seen that it's an ongoing series, I think I'm going to be making the switch to the books.
Reeeeeeead the boooooks. Savor Detective Noir Miller. Fall in love even more with Alex.
(I'm only a couple books in because I inundate myself with Too Many Things To Read, but I love them nonetheless.)

Example: "You're not that guy. . . . I'm that guy."
I was sitting on my couch, clutching a pillow and whispered that to myself as he did.
Even though I saw it coming, it was still powerful af.

Does that mean you can't also be appreciated for your work?
Yes. I definitely didn't mean something benign like "no need for accolades, it's a labor of love." <.<
Who said anything about "need"? I don't know why you can't accept a complement, but you do you.
I'll take his compliments.

RE: Good TV
@Auspice It really says something about good casting when: You read the first several books before watching the TV series and everyone is vaguely amorphous. Then you watch a couple seasons and read the last two books and suddenly EVERYONE in your head looks like the TV series. I can't even recall what they were like in my previous mental state.
Shohreh and Wes are beyond perfect.
The authors are very involved in the casting. Like Bobbie had to be from the South Pacific and tall af. When they met Frankie they apparently had an 'omg yes her!' reaction.
I love seeing them discuss the casting on Twitter.

@Thenomain At home, I have the CSS modifier thingie that just hides the images entirely. At work...
...I just get ragey and think hateful thoughts and then try to remember that I shouldn't be MSBing at work, anyway.
Don't gifshame me.
(in all honesty it WOULD be nice if browsers had a built in function to make gifs work on mouse over only or something.) -

@Macha You probably need an employment lawyer if you can swing one. I know enough to be pretty sure your employer needs to enter into an interactive process about this: they can't just say "nope, can't do the accommodation you want, so the conversation is over." Their reaction indicates they don't have a very good understanding about what their responsibilities are.
Agreed.
Might be a good idea to reach out to a local EEOC rep.

@Auspice WHAT
This is one of the ones I have (photo not mine, but a good example from Twinkled-T's site):
)
(To achieve the above: paint nail in base color (silvery-white here). Lay vinyl over nail. Paint rainbow pattern onto a cosmetic sponge. Dab onto nail. Remove vinyl. Voila!)

MSB Peeves
I have to get this off my chest.
It's a long time coming.I fucking hate nodebb's search function.

@Auspice Oh, I've done vinyls and wraps before. Right now, I really like Espionage Cosmetics for those. It's stamps that I've never really tried.
These aren't like Espionage's. They're more like a stencil.
You stick it to your nail, paint over it, then peel it off: voila, pattern applied!
They were sort of the evolution from stamps (which are finicky to get right, but fun!). -
RE: Wildly Out of Context
Also...just saw on the news Alright Alright Alright is now officially a film professor.
......because you know exactly who it is even so.

@Auspice I've never tried that! I love catseye gel, though.

Also, https://www.twinkledt.com/collections/nail-brushes/products/twinkled-t-kolinsky-nail-cleaning-brush-size-2 is a stellar brush for cleaning up around the nail (rather than trying to aim with a cotton ball or similar dipped in remover!)

@Auspice I have glitter polish, holographic flakes, transfer foil, gonna get some magnetic catseye stuff with my next paycheck
I never really decided how I felt about the magnetic stuff.
Stamps and templates are also a lot of fun.

My one point of vanity is my nails. I recently realized that for the price of one salon manicure, I could get everything I wanted to do my own gel nails at home, including special UV protection gloves to protect my skin. Happy Tek is happy.
Now that I'm past the insane stress/depression of the winter and spring, my nails aren't shredding anymore and I can paint them again. It's made me p happy.

RE: Wildly Out of Context
"I told you, you wear long sleeves in the summer and short sleeves in the winter!"
"In the winter it turns really hot?"
"....prob'ly."
