RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Someone recently gave me a baby spiderplant off of their plant.
This thing is going to die because one of my cats keeps uprooting it from its pot. They don't even do anything with it. They just yank it out and leave it next to the pot for me to find.
fuckin' cats.

RE: Why We Don't Make New Friends Anymore (Or Creepers Do Creepy Things)
I loved/hated LARP.
Part of why I fell for my ex husband is we fucking rocked it at a WW LARP playing opposite each other. People would just fall back and watch. But then there were those goddamn creepers. The couple who would creep for 'thirds.' The dude who would ST and trade XP for favors (both monetary and not).
Just...ugh.

RE: RL Anger
Oops! Didn't know, sorry!
ETA: Fixed! Sorry! Only char I ever played with her that I knew was a guy, I totally didn't mean to be rude.
I don't think she was upset by it (since she didn't say anything!), I'm just aware and I know usernames can be super confusing sometimes so I thought I'd mention.

RE: RL Anger
Yeah. I took it as explanation of why objection, and if that is what he meant, I can understand exactly why he was confused.
ETA: I had to struggle to get to my correct boiling down.
(wahoo is a lady btw)

I did cheat this last year and meet the same person I did the year before, but I'm okay with that.
how dare you.
Now you have to meet 2 new people next year. -
RE: RL Anger
tbh maybe it's terrible and horrible and people will block me and hate me for this
but I just want the guys who hang out at my bus stop and harass me and shout at me to stop and go away
I hate feeling uncomfortable and leered at and harassed while I'm just waiting for the bus so I can go home

RE: RL Anger
@Ganymede I'd also like to vehemently object to the idea that strippers and prostitutes need to "clean themselves up and fly straight." Those you associated might well have done, but let's not tar entire professions with the same brush.
100% agree. Have known plenty of strippers who went that route because they got to choose their own hours and for a lot of people? That's the only fucking way to get through school.
So many jobs out there go 'We don't fucking care what time you have classes.'
But stripping? Pays well and many clubs let you decide what days you work. Most strippers I've known are doing it to get some fucking awesome degrees without student debt.

RE: RL Anger
@Ghost You know, now that you mention it:
WITH apps like Venmo out there... that makes someone with a Square even more suspicious. Like, not even with the difficulties of obtaining a Square. With Venmo, you are able to go 'Hi, this is more secure, you don't have to worry I'm skimming your card, you can just scan my QR code and decide your amount on YOUR phone without the device being in my hands the whole time...'
I can see why someone shoving a card scanner would, for a few reasons, be really uncomfortable.

RE: RL Anger
I changed banks this last year (my old bank was from when I lived in WA; no branches down here). The first couple banks I looked at said nope. The one I got is pretty awesome, but yeah. I have a steady job, okay-ish credit score.... but medical + student debt = banks going naaaaaaaw gtfo.

RE: Potent Potables
There's a bar in Greenville, SC (......ugh my mid-20s are showing themselves hard in this thread...) that has alcoholic slushies (City Tavern, one of the bartenders is from MD, so good place to go if you wanna make sure the TVs are showing DC/Baltimore teams).... Two of them use everclear.
Good way to get fucked up fast.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
I think I got dilaudid the last time I was in the hospital because I begged them not to give me morphine, but.... an NGT is also so insanely horridly uncomfortable that they give you something.
And it was, truly, the first time in my life I've understood what people mean by feeling drugged. I was just dopey and sleepy and it's the only reason it took 3 days before I told my nurse that if they didn't get clearance to take it out I'd remove it myself.
But yeah, tbh, it wasn't until I was over 30 that doctors and nurses began listening when I said 'this doesn't work' or 'this happens when...' (such as: 'I feel like I'm suffocating when I'm given anesthesia ...' and the last time, the anesthesiologist actually listened and instead of it being a terrifying experience, he actually knew WHAT THAT MEANT and adjusted accordingly).

I wish I understood morphine.
Any time I've ever been given it, I just feel like I'm on fire.'Oh but that's how it feels' people tell me.
Really? really?
if that's how it feels why does anyone take it.Because spending a few hours just feeling like my body is burning from the inside out does not really seem like it's the purpose of a pain killer
It's supposed to burn for a few seconds going in. Not, like, all the time. That is definitely something that is not supposed to be happening.
Yeah it burns at first and then it (the burning) spreads throughout my whole body and just does... not... stop.
It's why I refuse to get morphine anymore. Because I never get any pain relief.

I am grumpy. Short check and lots of bills means that I can pretty much afford to make one grownup thing this week -- pasta aglio e olio. Which is really just a fancy name for something dead simple. Pasta, olive oil, garlic, red pepper flakes, parsley, salt, pepper, lemon juice. Easy.
On the upside, it is delicious.
On the downside, it sits in my stomach like a lead ball.
I rarely make pasta, but it's dirt cheap, and while rocking a whopping $3.27 in my bank account, that's gonna be about the only option.
Ugh. Friday cannot come fast enough.

This is my go-to at those times. It's still pasta, but it's super delicious and a bit lighter than most.
But I know that feel and I'm sorry -

@Auspice The number of times I've had to self-explain my search history as "I'm a writer" or "I'm a teacher" astounds me.
Right? Like, 'weird' to me isn't 'I researched what a shotgun wound looks like' because whatever I do that sort of thing all the time because writer.
But in-depth research into a state's tax records is a little weird even by my standards because it's not my usual type of writing.

RE: The Weirdest Thing I Ever Purposefully Did on the Internet
The only thing I can think of is extensive research into Indiana tax records as research for a novel I never finished.
