You only qualify if you're also as hot as either Cameron Diaz or Justin Timberlake.
Are you as hot as Cameron Diaz or Justin Timberlake?

WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS.
WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT AUSTRALIA IS ABLAZE?
...like, dudes, literally the whole world is talking about that or the impeachment trial. Or I guess Kobe too, now. But no, nobody missed that. The world is bigger than Facebook and Twitter, I promise.

RE: Storytime! Embarrassment Edition
So, once, after high school graduation. I'm still not sure if I want to go to college or not. I have no idea what I want to do. But I know that I need money in the quickness.
This, of course, does not stop me from being, well -- me.
Have a job interview the next day. So where am I? Out drinking with friends for a friend's birthday, naturally. And being young and sort of pretty at the time, and full of booze, a hookup is arranged, as these things happen to go.
It. Was. Terrible. Great person, shining personality. No chemistry. And not even his fault really. It was a combination of inexperience and height differences and about a million other things.
Anyway, we pass out, wake up, realize we've both overslept and are in that just-enough-time-to-get-our-shit-and-run zone. No numbers exchanged. No real intention to on either of our ends.
Get to the interview, sit for a minute.
Yeah. I'm interviewing with this dude.
We both go into his office and just kind of sit awkwardly for a minute before we start in with the very straightforward 'so this is not gonna work, right?' realization, and we both know that we have to make this drag out for some minutes because he has a boss he answers to as well, and we can't just be done. Both of us questioning whether it's been long enough.
In retrospect it was kind of funny, but man, that was two of the most awkward moments of my life, with the same person, in 12 hours. Completely by chance.

I was thinking "Damn this is gonna taste great!" and I was right.
Definitive proof that one cannot think clearly in the grip of depression.

Back to RL peeves, disgruntlements and irks.
I just saw a fashion advert on Facebook for stylish anti-pollution air masks.
If that's not peak capitalism I don't know what is.
Yes/no.
It's showing up because of that virus, but they've been a thing for a handful of years at least because of kids with severe asthma and allergies and such who need to wear them. And I'm pretty in favor of lettIng the kid with a health condition have a cool thing to help them feel better about it.
The partner has one for CF reasons, too. His is kind of badass.

RE: The Work Thread
Putting in for a much better job in your current workplace that pays better and has way better benefits, and having lovely interviews with people you already work with, and everything seems to be going well...
Only to then be told that you are universally disqualified from taking that position because the job you work currently may create an ethical conflict at some point in the future which would make someone else work a tiny bit harder for a finite period of time.
So are you seriously telling me that I literally cannot move into a job that you're now going to hire someone off the street for because I already work here, when overall policy is to promote from within and reward those that already work here? And I am the only person in this entire place that this applies to?

She’ll always have a female voice, but if you want her to have an Australian, Indian, southern U.S., or some other accent to match your family’s speech patterns, you can absolutely do that.
Alas. Though the accents are pretty cool.
Pfft. You're thinking too small.
It should be named Alfred, and be voiced by Michael Caine. Obviously.

@Coin you can scroll back on discord though, right? It's a little better than skype groups at least though maybe that depends on the volume.
Either way, my cognitive inability to keep up with that kind of thing now really gets to me/makes me frustrated too, so. Not the medium for me, I definitely find it easier to be a contributor to a board than something like that. Might be just a matter of spending my time in it though.
You can, but conversations in chats tend to have a much shorter lifespan of acceptable input. If you're scrolling back on discord and pitching into a conversation that's four days old, people are usually done and on to other things; not so much on a forum.
That and I find that Discord doesn't offer the same sort of robust conversation that this forum does, in that you have much less time to construct a deliberative post about a thing, and really much less space to do so. Discord's posts limit to something like 2000 characters, and the immediacy of the medium means that people engage fast and hard about a topic and it's probably well moved on to several other things by the time you even read the first, if you read the first.
That said, I kind of agree with @Ganymede's post, which is likewise why I find the prior set of rules linked to for a Discord community somewhat objectionable, really. Among other reasons. But I think that the forum is a superior medium for this kind of chatter.

My legs are agony today. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to get my calves to stop burning to agonizing levels when I walk. Today my feet just HURT. I need new shoes, I know that, but there's no money for that, yet.
Those ten dollar memory foam shoes from Wal-Mart (assuming you are somewhere in the U.S.) are a godsend for short-term benefits for not a lot of money. They tend to hold up for a couple of months, at least, and are super comfy when you buy them. They break down quickly, but screw it. It'll solve the problem at first.

I somehow question just how organic the turnaround is.
It's not organic. No more than anything else when it comes to social progress, anyway. It happens because an extremely persistent group put their shoulders into it and pushed to get the changes that they wanted in a way that it would be a social faux pas for the equally small group of overall decisionmakers to ignore.
Kind of like the Supreme Court.
