RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@apos Please don't make clothes a thing that affects anything else. I love the standard position that, "If someone's not wearing clothes, assume they're wearing clothes," because I really cannot be bothered to give a rat's backside about having the right coloured shirt under the proper style of pants.
Firan had "fashionable clothes." I hated every aspect of that. It just creates item bloat and yarg.
So, anyway, just my vote. I won't leave the game over it, but I'll be as irritated as if someone were doing the "I'm not touching you" thing siblings do to each other.

@seraphim73 @Arkandel
I'll add to this: Limiting Channellers is a bad idea. Limiting Black Ajah is a necessity. On Cuendillar, it seemed like every 2nd Aes Sedai was a frigging black ajah. It was stupid.Actually, I'll extend it: Limit darkfriends of all stripes. Have some active and sneaky ones, and that's way more effective than operating with the general understanding you're likely to hit one if you threw a rock in a room full of people.

@Ghost Without getting all theological, I'm almost 100% sure that isn't even what the Bible says about dealing with crap. Frustrates me when I see the same thing, because I seem to recall whole scads of Christians becoming martyrs in horrible ways, and dealing with their imminent demise with fewer superhappysunshinerainbow thoughts and more, "Welp, this is basically what I signed up for, since Jesus said it was going to happen."

RE: Strange Facts
@Selerik
Tomatoes were considered poisonous, as I recall, because cutting them released the acidic juice. When used with pewter dishes - which is what people had in the middle ages - it drew out the lead. Once ingested, the lead began to poison the eater.
I also thought they were commonly mistaken for something else that was poisonous... And now I see that Wikipedia informs me they were confused with nightshade. -

@Cobaltasaurus I used to work in the lumber yard part of a hardware store. 15 mins before close, dudebro pulls his truck into the lumber lot (without having made a purchase), and heads into the store. 14 mins later, he returns with an invoice. Guy bought enough stuff to build a garage - including insulation and shingles.
He hands it to my coworker who looks at it and says, "Nope. Come back tomorrow." Dudebro gets cranky, but none of us are backing down. He wants the manager, who comes out and gets the story (keeping us open with his truck, etc) and tells Dudebro that he can come back tomorrow at 6, or spend the evening with the guard dogs that we hire to protect the yard, but the gate will be locked.
I loved that Manager...

RE: DMs, GMs, STs: Do you fudge rolls?
I've fudged them in the players' benefit once or twice, playing tabletop. What I have done more often, though, is offered bonuses if the desired action is especially creative or imaginative. Heck, I've even added a couple of points for vividly descriptive.
Slash the abomination across the back? No bonus
Slash the abomination across the back while in the air, having launched yourself from the roof of a car, which should cause the abomination in question to stumble into the path of an oncoming train? Oh, you can have a few points for that.I try to reward imagination instead of merely punishing difficulty. But I let everyone know how I'm modifying the roll, if for no other reason than to encourage repeat behaviour.

RE: RL Anger
I didn't put my wallet in the gym bag when I was packing the bike bag to get to work this morning. Dammit, I hate asking to borrow money even though I'll return it in 24 hours but I'm ravenous and of course today is the one day in the week I didn't bring lunch either.
Bah.
I hate borrowing money so much I can't even describe. I've starved at my desk rather than borrow money from people.
Now I leave a box of Clif bars in my desk for emergencies.

RE: Do you believe in paranormal things?
To me, the word "paranormal" is different from supernatural. I'll try to explain...
I have faith, practice a religion (and draw the distinction between the two), and generally try to live as though what I believe is actually true. I don't believe in ghosts and the rest of that stuff. So, I look at the supernatural (eg: miracles), and I say, "Sure." But when I hear stories related to the paranormal (eg: ghosts, premonitions, precognition, etc), I find that stuff absurd.
I even like science.

You know what? - cilantro is awful. It befouls all food it touches. If I had my way, we'd collect all the cilantro in the world and set it ablaze in one glorious, profanely putrescent, bonfire.
Every food item is worsened by its inclusion. No cuisine has ever been improved.

RE: RL Anger
Finding the flavor of cilantro revolting is genetic.
Crap. One more privilege I'll have to check, now...

RE: RL Anger
@Kanye-Qwest Other way around, actually. I made a comment to someone else and she interjected.
So, "It's awful that people lose their legs in thresher accidents," is replied to with, "Don't you realise people still stub their toes?"

RE: RL Anger
@BetterJudgment Why do people not understand one doesn't touch other people's stuff, and especially that one does not sit on someone else's motorcycle without permission? Truefax: sitting on someone's bike without their permission can get you extra beaten up if it's the wrong person.

RE: RL Anger
I hate when people make appointments and "forget" that they've been made. Professionally, I mean - it's annoying in my personal life, but sometimes it happens and whatever. But my job is pretty dependent on making and keeping my appointments, and sometimes I have to say no to one because I've made a prior arrangement. When that one gets no-showed, I lose out on two opportunities.
Seriously, people... write it on your hand, if you don't know what a phone's calendar is for.

RE: Wheel of Time MU(SH|X)
I played on Cuendillar a lot. Enjoyed it most of the time. The idea of another WoT game has my curiousity.
One small problem: It seemed that - on Cuendillar, at least - every gorram Aes Sedai was Black Ajah or wanting to be. That was annoying.
And while I know WoT is loaded with very special people and types, it really should have freaked more people out to see a Wolfbrother.
So, personally, I'd suggest keeping those two types of characters to an absolute minimum.
Also, moving the setting to elsewhere is very interesting. I'd even suggest south - Tear, Illian, Ghealdan, etc - and then you could make use of False Dragons, national rivalries and skirmishes, and Far Madding.

RE: RL Anger
@Ganymede God I love/hated Sinister.
Like...that epic scene in Nic Cage's 8mm where they don't show what's happening on the snuff film, but they tell the story through watching Nic Cage's reactions...
I saw 8mm and had to ask my friend for a hug because I felt cold and dead inside. Like, more than usual.
