I'd love a dark fantasy type RPG (Dark Souls) or a Bloodborne style RPG. Something dark and oppressive.

Pirates and Swashbuckling
So after having lurked on the site for a while I've seen a number of comments requesting a 7th Sea MUX/SH. I've always loved the setting but found the game itself to be...a bit wonky. I don't know. Maybe it's me but I've never been able to wrap my head around it. So if there were to be a piratey game could it be done another way? After looking through my RPG collection here were some thoughts...
Savage Worlds: The Pirates of the Spanish Main RPG was pretty good. I enjoyed it well enough. I think Savage Worlds could do everything 7th Sea could do. I'm not expert though.
GURPS: Crunchy as hell I guess but still one of my personal all time favorite RPGs.
7th Sea: We come back to this. I love the setting but, again, the mechanics leave me flat.
Game of Thrones RPG: I think Green Ronin games has put out a generic form of their Game of Thrones RPG, which I love. Might be more difficult to do some of the more supernatural type stuff but I think it'd handle most of the other stuff okay. Perhaps a bit more lethal than a swashbuckling game should be though.
Anyway, just wanted to start up a new thread instead of derailing an existing thread to discuss Pirate Game Goodness.

New 52 MUX
An older game under new management with a bit of a different theme. Using New 52 as a jumping off point and going from there. Uses the Mutants & Masterminds/DC Adventures system.
New 52 MUX is a game set in the DC Universe that takes the idea of their New 52 reboot and applies it to a game. This essentially makes us a Year 5 game (The Justice League debuted 5 years ago). We cut off canon at just before the various first issues of the New 52 reboot. We are taking the history they've established and going from there. We have also made a few other minor tweaks (no Batman Inc for instance) but our intention is to keep things simple, allowing players to pop onto the game and get into RP with the minimum amount of research.
Where we go from there is entirely up to the players. Our mantra is "we are inspired by the comics, not limited by them". The New 52 theme gives us a great jumping off point but what happens after that will be in no way hindered by what happened or happens in the comics. We're looking to forge our own legacy and create our own stories. To that end we offer a number of RP options ranging from fully fleshed out "maxi" grids (Metropolis, Gotham, NYC), mini-grids made up of a small handful of rooms (Atlantis, Themyscira), and single room locations that may represent large areas (Oa, various geographical locations on Earth). Our grid will be constantly expanding as we add new locations be they cities, headquarters, or even entire planets.
We use the DC Adventures RPG by Green Ronin games for our +sheets and offer a streamlined process for FC applications and a robust system for creating original characters. Despite the use of a RPG system we remain a story driven and consent based game. The +sheets are there to give an easy "at a glance" look at a character and what they can do. Our +check system is there for those who want to use it but it is by no means required.
We have a temporary wiki at http://new-52.wikidot.com/. Keep in mind that if you do not have a wikidot account you will see ads on the various pages. This is done by wikidot and the staff of New 52 MUX do not make any money off the site or the ads. If you log into a wikidot account (or use an ad blocker) you will not see the ads. We are working on our own mediawiki but that may take some time to get going.
You can connect to the game at new52mux.com port 2015.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
Man, I'd love an Aberrant game. It's been a while but I kind of remember the system breaking at certain points though.

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
Code wise things seem to be going well. I think I might have working c-gen by the end of the weekend.
While speaking about setting...I think, were I part of such a game, I'd push for it to have a core set piece of some big city that allows for a number of PC types but also have it near the water for more adventurous types. Allow pirating as one type of allowable RP (Pirate Sphere?).

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
I grabbed the book out of storage and set up a new tinymux db to play around with. We'll see how it goes.

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
I have em, thanks. The game caught my eye many years ago but my TT group never took to it so back on my shelf they went. I'll have to dig them out tonight and play around.
Another road block, from my POV, is the number of supplements the system has. Could a game be made just from the core book? Are there any "mandatory" supplements you'd have to include?

RE: Pirates and Swashbuckling
I've never had the opportunity to play 7th Sea might be a big issue. Maybe that's my issue. I'm also trying to think about it from a code point of view and trying to figure out how I'd code c-gen and it's not going well in my head.
I need to break back out my 7th Sea book and give it a look. Maybe do up a sample character and just try some of the mechanics out.

Brave New World MUSH
Here's a fairly opened themed DC MUSH. They allow characters from tv shows, movies, comics, etc.
Brave New World is a superhero themed game set in the year 2017 in a non-canon version of the DC Universe which also incorporates other elements such as The Watchmen & Wildstorm while drawing inspiration from TV Shows such as The Flash & Arrow.
We have an original theme and encourage players to be creative with their applications; with the ability to apply for both canon characters and original characters of their own design in a world where the Heroic Age is coming to an end.
The goal of Brave New World is to provide a flexible environment for players where they are able to participate in and tell the stories they wish to; while helping shape the world itself through their actions.
We offer a variety of coded systems to aid in role-play such as scene logging systems (that post directly to wiki for you) and have a very helpful group of staff just waiting to help you through the application process and get you on the grid with your chosen character. Never fear, if the character you want is unavailable, we'll do everything we can to help you find another.
