That is gorgeous and I want them.

I'm not above anyone humming loudly and pretending the code doesn't exist either if that's not their jam, but hopefully I can keep trying to get it more intuitive and friendly as time goes on.
I don't know if this is true for anyone else, but the biggest issue I had was trying to get retainers to work as helpers on investigations. The code there was...awkward, I guess? Everything else worked pretty well once I actually understood how it was supposed to work--support tasks took a long time for me to grasp, for example.

I just ordered silly, fruity cheap ass wines to be delivered to my house. during my work shift.
I'm lazy and I'm going to be stupid later and drink cold wine outside in the heat, and love every second of it
That sounds lovely.
@Pandora said in Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?:
People should play with those who are interesting and engaging and contributing to their sense of enjoyment in a game.
This. And really, only this.
Nope. Dinosaurs are the worst. I'll have to pass on this too.
@brent Rando! You were the best king. I was Mira! I miss playing with you.
To be completely honest, I voted yes, but maybe not? I don't have the time to sit through six hour adventures anymore, and I had all but faded out of the community until a friend recommended Arx to me. Arx was wonderful and amazing and the social system let me be 'there' without being there, you know? It reignited my passion for MUSHing.
And then I lost access to that wonderful community because I was dumb and it's been made clear that they will never ever forgive me.
That was a year and a half ago, and I've never really found another MU that hit that sweet spot for me again, and I'm starting to wonder why I keep looking. So...maybe not? I do love reading about the drama here, though.

However, that's all in flux. After what I saw last night, I'm reconsidering quite a few things. This is why some policy hasn't been written up yet. In between thinking about this, I've been adding utility talent trees for Dark Siders, adding NPCs onto a NPC list for the community to use, running scenes so people don't get bored and wonder why the heck they're on a beta, and such. These are just all things I'm learning to juggle, but I knew what I was signing up for when I gave this project a go. Don't be surprised if I drop the ball a few times here and there, but the intentions is never intended to be malicious.
That's good to hear, at least! Might I suggest not adhering to a bell-curve? Lower power levels sound great at first, but as the game gets older, it only hurts new players. I'd recommend getting people to 7-8 quickly and then making it a slog to 9-11, then making it extremely difficult to get to 12+. But that's just my hot take on it.
@Tinuviel It was an appropriate one, which is why I continued with it.
@Roz said in Poll: Do I enjoy this hobby more than I don't?:
@Lemon-Fox I was honestly only clarifying to Ghost because I figured he was not actually intending to suggest breaking any rules, he assumed it was a different situation than what it was, but perhaps I should have left matters to you to set the suggestion aside herself without having it explained why. I didn't think you were about to take him up on it. It wasn't actually my intention to brand anybody, and I wasn't seeking to remind you of anything, Lemon Fox. I don't think there's any issue with you hopefully finding your niche on a game.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to explain your intentions.
@Apos said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?:
I started worried about trolling and bad actors, and almost never found it. But people going apeshit over setbacks from individuals that are normally 100% fine and even positive was way worse than I ever anticipated.
Sorry!
I always think I'll find a cool social niche to fall into where I can provide a useful service that isn't time sensitive or combat/scene-heavy. Then a couple weeks later I realize I've done essentially nothing and I can't quite figure out why Arx worked for me so easily but nothing else has.
I just wanna have a little non-essential but still fun shop somewhere. Be a cool spy that doesn't need to be Solid Snake or a stripper. Run a little mechanic's garage that isn't The Best There Ever Was. You know, the RP of a normal person living in extraordinary circumstances.
And worse, the environments are there. I just don't feel at home in them like I thought I would.
@A-B said in Tips for not wearing out your welcome:
I would like to know what else but an angry tone somebody can respond in who has been, in their honest opinion, unfairly banned from a game, and then taken to task in front of a lot of strangers for trying to appeal and even apologise (you didn't see the private message I sent Tat). Believe me, I have been making a big effort to tone it down as much as I can.
It sucks, but it's kind of like being in a mud pit, or quicksand. If you thrash and fight, you're just going to sink. But if you just calmly extract yourself, you can walk away. And it may hurt for a bit to leave friends behind--especially if you can't contact them! But you'll make new friends if you just learn from the experience and try to grow better for having learned something. Shouting never changed anyone's mind, but taking the lesson to heart can.
I really don't understand the common policy of rapidly cycling people who don't log in every week. It's very depressing to see 8 people get purged every week. Who cares if a non-roster didn't log on for a while?
