This sounds like "Sid Mier's ALPHA CENTAURI: The Mush"
I'm down for that.
So which faction are Gaia's Stepdaughters?
Oh my god YES! University or Morganites!

For years my job involved working almost exclusively with gamers and nerds in person, and this thread depressed me in ways I wasn't prepared for.
@DareDaemon said in Punishments in MU*:
In the hands of a good staffer it is, but we all know that some staffers are shits who cannot be trusted where the goal of punishment frequently isn't correction, it's coercion.
That is very fair. I guess I was just taking a too-optimistic viewpoint.
@Sunny said in Punishments in MU*:
Citations needed, particularly with the 'always' being there.
I withdraw my statement. It was, in fact, not listed in the dictionary definition.
@Arkandel said in Punishments in MU*:
Punishment isn't about control. No one controls everything; hell, most people (especially trouble players) barely control themselves.
To me it's a primarily a message: "This is what we will not tolerate. This is how much we're prepared to do to stop it."
That may be the message conveyed, but the goal of punishment is always correction, all the way up to permanent removal of that problem. It's always about control, but trying to control something isn't inherently a bad thing.
@Apos said in What MU/RPG opinions have you changed or maintained?:
I started worried about trolling and bad actors, and almost never found it. But people going apeshit over setbacks from individuals that are normally 100% fine and even positive was way worse than I ever anticipated.
Sorry!

MechWarrior/BattleTech (Dark Ages or War of the Clans)
That's a weird and interesting choice. You mean the Wars of Reaving?
@Sparks said in What Types of Games Would People Like To See?:
But I just thought Coin was saying that MCG had the same sort of policy about online games SJG does
Oh, weird. They always struck me as very friendly and laid-back people when I had to work with them. Especially Monte Cook himself. Anyway, my mistake! I thought @Coin had the impression that The Strange was a SJ game.
@Coin said in What Types of Games Would People Like To See?:
It really is very sad because The Strange is one of the most enticing game settings, really.
Isn't that owned by Monte Cook Games?

Imagine a space game on Arx code.

+1 Because I can only up-vote once.
@WildBaboons said in A fully OC supers MU:
The power sets already in place can describe just about any super power set out there and with OCs you don't have the problem of "but this FC is the best!"
This is why FC-saturated places make me shy away. I remember one place a long time ago where it said, 'The Hulk is the strongest there is. Period. You can never beat the Hulk at anything strength related.' and it had stuff like that for other FCs as well. Just, no contest allowed.
@Roz said in Poll: Do I enjoy this hobby more than I don't?:
@Lemon-Fox I was honestly only clarifying to Ghost because I figured he was not actually intending to suggest breaking any rules, he assumed it was a different situation than what it was, but perhaps I should have left matters to you to set the suggestion aside herself without having it explained why. I didn't think you were about to take him up on it. It wasn't actually my intention to brand anybody, and I wasn't seeking to remind you of anything, Lemon Fox. I don't think there's any issue with you hopefully finding your niche on a game.
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to explain your intentions.
@Tinuviel Because I wasn't the one suggesting breaking the rules. There was no need to 'remind' me, and it really hurt that @Roz felt they needed to let everyone else know, 'Hey, careful there, partner, this one here is a bad egg.' Like seriously, Why even do that except to be mean? If I ever planned on sneaking onto Arx, I would have done so a long-ass time ago, not on the sudden suggestion of some guy I don't know.
What this means in relation to this thread is, we're here to have fun with friends, right? But an awful lot of people seem to just want to attack people they don't like, at every chance given. And it's gotten really hard to keep a positive attitude with that kind of culture going around.
And who knows, maybe I'm just reading too much into it and @Roz didn't mean to be hurtful with that, but that's what it seemed like and I'm just over here being like, "Really?"
@Tinuviel It was an appropriate one, which is why I continued with it.
I think these last few posts have firmly pushed me into the "do not enjoy" category after all.
While I get that there are a lot of slimy players who have hurt people a lot over the years, I was just posting my feelings about MUSHing. There was no need to put up a wanted poster with my face on it because someone else suggested breaking the rules.
Maybe it's just this forum, but the community seems so viciously toxic at times, and never let anything be forgotten.
To be completely honest, I voted yes, but maybe not? I don't have the time to sit through six hour adventures anymore, and I had all but faded out of the community until a friend recommended Arx to me. Arx was wonderful and amazing and the social system let me be 'there' without being there, you know? It reignited my passion for MUSHing.
And then I lost access to that wonderful community because I was dumb and it's been made clear that they will never ever forgive me.
That was a year and a half ago, and I've never really found another MU that hit that sweet spot for me again, and I'm starting to wonder why I keep looking. So...maybe not? I do love reading about the drama here, though.
