Yes, this. So they position it in the pose as though it should be highly compelling, basically playing like they have a far more socially gifted character than they do. (this also applies to intelligence 1 astrophysicists as well)

RE: Social Stats in the World of Darkness
I will just also say with reference to social stats that (at least to me) posing your character as making these sweeping, dramatic, highly persuasive speeches when they are (as an example) presence 1, expression 1, is equivalent to posing your strength 1 character tossing around cars for fun.
If you don't have the social stats to support it then, in my opinion, your character has no business making those compelling speeches as it's simply not within their capabilities. Ignoring social stats means the game is no longer about our characters and role-playing what is on our sheets, but about which of us is the better writer or debater OOC-wise.

RE: Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
Hi there!
Mage is a little bit of a tough one for me for a few reasons.
Firstly, I don't think any of us know Mage particularly well. My experience is that if you're going to have Mage you need a staffer who is very committed, can give time to it every single day and knows it inside out and back to front or there is the real risk of having people run rings around you and finding yourself out of your depth very quickly.
I think mage has a very bad reputation, some of which is unfair and some of which is wholly deserved. I think the lore of 1e mage really didn't help with that, but I am aware that a lot of it was reworked in 2e to make it less 'definite' which is good. As I mentioned though, I am far from an expert.
So yeah, I am not against adding mage eventually. I would just want to be in a position where I had a very knowledgeable, very committed person to run it and to make sure we had done the groundwork to ensure it sat well within the theme of the rest of the game.
Hope this helps!

RE: Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
Hi!
Yeah, it really did! We started out as a group of friends wanting to get something off the ground, but only one of us really knew any code at all. That person, unfortunately, had a lot of RL drop on her all at once and will be out of commission for the foreseeable future I think.
We are still talking about other ways it could be done that would require less technical know-how, like making it forum based for example. I would still love to hear from anyone that could help us out (It is TinyMux) and I will definitely keep you posted on what the eventual outcome of it all is.
Cheers

Hey!
So Promethean is a tough one. I will be honest and say I am not really familiar with 2e Promethean, but at least with 1e the Wasteland effect and the Disquiet you had to rip away so much of the character of the game in order for it to just be workable that it never sat well with me.
The only place I ever saw attempt it was Fallcoast I believe, and that was not really very successful or popular. I know there were some interpersonal things that sort of scuppered it early in its run there too though.
I actually really like Promethean as a game, it just doesn't really seem to play very well in this sort of a fixed setting MU environment and I don't know how you would work around that very well. I am very open to being convinced on it though.
Hope this helped explain why we didn't include it for you.

RE: Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
Hi Shelbest!
We do want to allow as much as we can within reason and I know that our vampire staffer is really keen to have bloodlines, as well as Dhampir.
Demon we are going to be much more cautious with as the potential for craziness is much greater. I know that the staffer we have on board is keen to make sure that she is working with a small, knowledgeable group of players. Stigmatics will be a thing for sure though.
Though this might actually all be a bit of a non-starter unless we find another coder, and we are fairly early in development, so a lot may still change.
Hope this was of at least some help!

RE: Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
That is something we thought about actually.
As a group we were really keen to do something non-North American and Ibiza has a really interesting history that stretches back the best part of 4000 years, meaning there are loads of interesting bits of history and backstory that can be included, as well as some cool themes we think we could explore.
Historically, you have periods of Phoenician and Carthaginian settlement, Roman and then Moorish occupation, pirate incursions and then in more modern times the influx of tourism and the rise of club culture that is prevalent today. So there is an interesting mixture of cultural and historical elements.
It's also a really beautiful location - most of the island is designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. We did think about including werewolves, but we ran into the fact that none of us are really that 'into' them as a concept and that the landscape and wildlife of Ibiza don't really lend themselves to large, wild predators. It is something we might revisit in the future though.
Although the permanent population of the island is small, approximately 3.2 million tourists visited in 2017 and it was our feeling that having such a high transient population, especially with a very rapid turnover as most of them are staying no longer than 1-2 weeks, would probably be able to feasibly support a small supernatural community.
I hope this helped to answer some of that!

Shadows of Paradise: help wanted!
‘Shadows of Paradise’ is a NWoD 2.0 MUSH currently under development. Set on the paradise island of Ibiza, our aim is to offer a new kind of WoD experience.
Focussing heavily on quality over quantity, we aim to maintain a high ratio of players to storytellers and provide a plot-heavy environment, where every character can receive individual attention from storytelling staff.
We are currently planning to offer:
- Vampire: The Requiem 2nd Edition
- Demon: The Descent
- Beast: The Primordial
- Mortal/Mortal+
- Associated Minor Templates
We made a strong start, but unfortunately have hit a roadblock relatively early, with our coder being swallowed by RL and disappearing.
We're still really excited about what Shadows of Paradise has the potential to become, and would love to find a similarly enthusiastic coder to help us bring the project to life. If you're familiar with MU code and think you might be able to help - we would surely love to hear from you!
Please send me a message if you would like to find out more, or if you think you might be willing to help us out.
