Wait, how can people fail to change cat litter for weeks? After like a week at most it is substantially turned into cat piss soaked sawdust that cats will get on their paws before cuddling with you and stinking.

Change that stuff every week at most! 5 days is better and I am a clinically depressed lazy person.

I just tried out the demo for Crying Suns.

Very FTL influenced, the demo is only the 'first sector' but I am deeply impressed by the graphics, atmosphere and general tone. The gameplay probably does need some tweaking but one key thing is that you REALLY want to upgrade your fuel gathering as soon as you have the scrap available.

By end game my Decker was still alive and was piloting my 'light' mech.

So, a 70 ton Grasshopper loaded entirely with medium and small lasers for maximum murder disco.

People who piss on toilet seats then do not have the courtesy to wipe them dry with toilet paper.

Why would you do this? Why would you walk out of a toilet cubicle at work leaving piss all over the seat? Somebody is going to have to deal with that and it will be altogether more disgusting for them.

I have a new house! Or at least I have a new place to live lined up.

In about three weeks I am moving for my new job and while I do still need to get a removal company booked and sell my current home I do have a rental home lined up for while I carry out said sale and then buy a new place. I will be paying a horrifyingly large sum for it because the south (of the UK) is painfully expensive but fortunately the new job pays very well and I have the savings to cover the cost of the move.

It is going to be interesting to see how the cats adapt when going from a two bedroom apartment being their world to living in a full sized house with a decent garden. Personally I am looking forwards to the summer and living only a few miles from the beach.

Well, or at least versions of said disorders that are heavily medicated and rigorously clamped down on thanks to therapy and attempts at mental discipline to limit the impact.

I am externally seeming a quite successful person who should be happy but I have probably lost 1/3 to 1/4 of my life to depression, I have absolutely run into people who have said things like 'I was made redundant once and I was so depressed for a few weeks!' or 'I was so depressed when my mother died!'

The way to engage with that is not to mock them or outright confront them, it is to ask them. Now imagine if you felt like that all of the time? Remember the immediate aftermath of a family member dying. Imagine if that was your default state thanks to fucked up brain chemistry and you felt like that even when everything was going fine and your life was good?

I went to change my bedding earlier only to have a little head pop out from under the duvet. I decided to change the bedding tomorrow instead of disturbing her further but did take this picture.

@sab I am going to be in Mesa, at the Hilton next to the 'Freedom Golf Course', so not -that- far from Tempe when I look at the map.

@doozer Yes, my (future) boss did caution me to bring sunglasses and sunblock. Where I live right now it is hovering around freezing all day/night. The January/February temperatures for Phoenix seem to be about what I would expect for say, May here, albeit with far lower humidity.

Wait, I checked the weather when I realized I was going to be travelling there and it was saying daytime temperatures of twenty Celsius. That does not require a jacket! That does not require anything other than a t-shirt!

@rnmissionrun That might be a little out of the way! I am flying in on the Saturday and have the Sunday free along with most of Thursday but taking an uber 300 miles might be excessive in both time and cost.

So I am going to be in Phoenix Arizona for most of a week in late February thanks to my new job. I will be busy with work and being jetlagged but will probably have some time to explore, can anyone recommend anything particularly interesting, things to see or do?

New peeve that very much falls into 'first world problems'. I am due to move in just over a month to somewhere literally halfway across the country in order to start a new job that I am looking forward to and will be an amazing career move.

So what happens? A gorgeous secondary school teacher my age who seems to share a ton of interests messages me on a dating site with a nicely written message saying that would love to meet me, while their profile happens to mention that they are not open to relocation. Dammit!

I have been trying out the latest version of Starsector and having a lot of fun though I am still failing to find a single pristine nanoforge, I do have two alpha AI cores however and have put them to work administering colonies for me, surely nothing could possibly go wrong?

I mean yes I have to bribe inspectors not to notice that I am using AI to manage planets but they surely worry about this only because of the huge competitive advantages it gives!

I will steadfastly ignore the swarms of rogue AI warships and battle stations filling the periphery of the sector.

@tiredewok I admit I do not get that, I used to drink loose tea and have all sorts of tea accessories like strainers, etc. But ultimately? It was just tea and it was so much more of a pain than using a teabag. I gave up.

So, A while ago I posted Artemis perching atop a door and having HUGE EYES, she continues to love to jump atop doors and be Very Tall. But sometimes she forgets that she can just jump down and behaves in a hilarious but adorable manner. Enjoy!

I have been putting far too many hours into Kenshi, which is a moderately janky but really interesting game which is a kind of quasi RPG sandbox in what I can only describe as a post apocalyptic Samauri-punk setting. It is really brutal to start with but I am now at the point of having eight characters and a house.

Two of the characters mine copper outside of town, research things (occasionally) and cook food, this gives me a steady trickle income.

The other six venture out into the wilderness to explore and loot ruins or fight everything from freakish wildlife to bandits. My biggest haul so far was looting an ancient and mostly ruined library which was defended by a swarm of 'Security Spiders'. Which appeared to be a mass of 30+ small but murderous spiders who, after downing a character, would immediately try to bite off their limbs. Fortunately my main character was a very fast badass by this point with a huge sword that could cripple multiple spiders with each blow and I managed to wear them down without anyone suddenly becoming in need of prosthetics.

On the way back I was attacked by a 'Beak Thing' though which was rather dangerous. According to the wiki 'Beak Things' eat their prey alive and normally come in large groups, I was rather lucky to meet only one and thus be able to kill it without more than moderate injuries.

Edit: Now raiding a mine of the 'Holy Nation', I defeated the guards outside of the fort easily enough and started to free some of their slaves, but now I am being attacked by slaver traders who are trying to steal my unconcious characters as I withdraw from the area. They are gradually wearing me down along with Holy Nation paladin reinforcements but I am leaving a trail of severed limbs in my wake as I withdraw. The Holy Nation troops have been shouting misogynistic slurs at my female characters as well.

Well the salary negotiation stuff has been a success, I am going to be starting a new job in late January. It will be a huge rise in pay and title and is a job I am genuinely excited for. But.

Now to give in my notice tomorrow at work then have a frantic few weeks to arrange a move, along with renting out somewhere to live short term, also I will have the fun of selling my home and buying a new one meaning that I will absolutely not get to properly settle into wherever I move to. It is going to be a stressful new year even if it is all of my own doing.

Edit: Now as another issue? I am going to have to deal with serious impostor syndrome. I am getting a 45% pay rise even if I am moving to a more expensive part of the country, plus a more generous bonus scheme. This not going to make me one of the 1% but it is going to make me part of the 2% and whilst I am, objectively, quite sure I can do the job I have a broken chronically depressed brain and am going to have to constantly work on my thought patterns to make this work and not just freeze up.
