      @Ganymede
      @Cupcake and @Auspice were having actual conversations about who they thought the various people were, on MSB. How'd you miss it?

      @Macha I've been through this. When you need to, take off to the bathroom or someplace private, have a few minutes of tears or whatever, then go back to work. Rinse, repeat. Then go home and have a good shower and a big cry. Rinse, repeat ad nauseum.

      You can do this. For me, it helped to remember that the Victorians used to have a two or three year period where you were /expected/ to grieve intermittently, it's part of the wearing of black for that time period. We don't allow ourselves enough time to properly grieve in this day and age.

      I'm sending virtual hugs.

    • RE: Dark Crystal game?

      @fatefan Try the library. I'm also looking up The Dark Crystal to see what's out there and there's...a lot, actually. Creation myths and prequel stories and whatnot. But anything with Brian Froud's name attached will likely be original material, he's the one who created the world with Jim Henson. 🙂

      @fatefan There's a book called The World of the Dark Crystal. It's been out for decades. It has a whole lot of thematic...stuff to apply. And I'll bet that it gets reprinted now that Age of Resistance is out.

      Netflix's Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. I'm only partway through the first episode and I am COMPLETELY bowled over. The production values are flawless and I am loving the characterizations, it's just...wow.

      I have almond brittle made with truffle salt. It's unreal and delicious.

      Mietze, you should have told us. We'd have brought you chocolate and fruit. Anyway, good, you're one of the most fair people I've met. Ever.

      @mietze One of my nephews looks exactly like my oldest brother. The thing is, my oldest brother is my half-brother, and he looks like HIS father, who's no relation whatsoever to my nephew. It's sort of uncanny.

      Dark Phoenix is to the actual comic what Constantine is to Hellblazer. (I mean the Keanu Reeves movie.) It's entertaining if you go in with low expectations and the understanding that it is not anywhere near the comic. I don't feel I wasted my money. But it's NOT the Dark Phoenix Saga we all want.

      @Aria I was not bored. I came out thoroughly entertained. But lord, it wasn't good, to quote Bloom County.

      @Aria The new Hellboy is...all kinds of terribad. However, as soon as you relax into the fact that it's going to be just awful, you can lean into it as an enjoyable bad film. (As long as you're the kind of person who can really enjoy a bad film. I am.) Parts of it were just icky, parts were funny and I kept tilting my head and saying, "Huh. They went there," to myself. That said? I enjoyed the hell out of it because I had negative expectations.

      Ok, here's one for you: I first started reading A Distant Soil by Colleen Doran 33 years ago, via WaRP Graphics. It's been restarted under various presses repeatedly. Someday, I will find out how it ends. (It may actually be finished, but it's out of print and I can't afford the copies on Amazon.)

      I got one called "Sugared Birch" from Target that smells utterly divine. I also love any that are orange/cinnamon/clove.

      I'm in a hotel in Bellevue. And it keeps going from rain to snow and back to rain and then rainy snow. Like it doesn't know WHAT it wants to do.
