RE: Kushiel's Debut
I think it's ridiculous that we've spent this much time talking about them getting up and leaving the party to resolve a MUSH-wide plot. That doesn't even touch what the problems were and why people left.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@deadculture What happened between myself and another person has since been resolved, afaik. Which we did between the two of us without your help, no less. Your opinion on whether or not I'm an asshole has absolutely no bearing in this discussion whatsoever.
You might want to make sure you know what's going on before commenting on a situation, though. Because I'm fairly sure you don't.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@deadculture You're serious? Okay. Sure. I'll play, then. An IC representation of certain people getting to go do the crunchier RP while everyone else gets their silly fluff ball isn't showboating /how/?

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Sunny This, basically. The Royalty (staff alts) purposefully stonewalled her from involving others in the plot, so she chose not to continue to involve herself.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Echx This is all something most people wouldn't have had a problem with if staff was just up front and honest about who they did and did not want involved in the plot. Instead of one of them discussing it OOCly as if it were something anyone could get involved in...as should be expected of a plot that effects everyone? Anyways. Instead of doing that, they should have been clear. Not clandestine or opaque about the matter.
It was handled in an extremely craptastic fashion. You can deny this all you like, but this is what reinforced my decision to hang it up. This is why people are upset, Echx. Not because 'wah wah I feel left out'. The fact that you don't get that is disturbing to say the least.
It also doesn't give you the right to harass someone on other mediums after they've expressed a need to take a break from the situation.

@TNP said in Kushiel's Debut:
Oh, people can still have fun there. They just need to know what to expect. It's a sandbox in the truest meaning of the word. It's all about the staff alts and who they choose to play with. There's good players there and if someone just wants to RP in the setting, there's plenty of fun (and TS) available. Just don't expect to do anything beyond small scale personal drama.
Exactly. If you're into fluff social scenes and TS, the place is tops. There are a lot of good roleplayers and RP to be had. As long as you go in realizing that you won't have any impact on the game world at all or participate in staff-run plots, the game can definitely be a fun and rewarding experience.
I definitely recommend it as a secondary game/game to idle on and pop out for RP on occasion. Some of the social scenes proved to be a lot of fun there. I was already fairly bored and unsatisfied with the game being as bland as it is plot-wise. This particular instance was really just a culmination of events that lead to me feeling like even logging on to RP there was starting to feel like a chore. The timing just seemed right after this.
Sucks that they have some pretty harsh opinions towards the people who quit, whatever their reason. Meh. I'm sure I'll recover somehow.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I truly don't know all of the events surrounding the 'big game plot' or how that all came together. It was a plot that had been going on for something like two years where all of the Scions lost their powers. When staff picked up this plot again, there was understandably a lot of interest. A couple of people I spoke to stated that they were given the run-around in jobs regarding the plot. I'm not entirely sure how much truth there is to that.
Anyways - fast-forward a couple/a few months. There was a big social event that was nearly mandatory for people to attend the evening they decided to resolve the plot. The staff alts of Ash and Shem along with a small cadre of friends and a couple of people they rounded up at the last minute snuck out of the party to resolve the big game plot while everyone else was stuck at said party and was barred from participating in any shape or form. Keep in mind that this is following some frustration people had about staff giving them the run-around.
This was the straw that had me quitting the game. Not out of anger, mind you. I am just not inclined to play a game where staff, their alts, and their +1's are the only ones not discouraged from participating in the game's plot. Particularly a game where some staffers are purposefully lying to certain members of their player base. Teasing with plot and then withdrawing and claiming to 'not know that much' in the case of Shem on her alt.
I quit because I simply don't agree with this style of running a game. I have since started playing on a couple of other games I have had a completely different and positive experience with, so I honestly don't have a horse in this race. If you're asking in earnest -why- people quit, though, this would be the 'why' as far as I know.
