RE: MSB: The meta-discussion
@lordbelh Not communal hate as a whole, but rather groups of people who are quick to grab for the pitchforks. That changes and fluctuates, but it gets far, far away from criticizing the behavior and goes into the territory of criticizing a complete stranger as a person. That just seems silly to me.
But it gets downright hateful. It will keep some people, like me, as outliers that never really get involved in this community much. There are always going to be pluses and minuses. If it suits your purposes, then great. I wish you no ill.

RE: MSB: The meta-discussion
@Ghost True. I guess the point I'm trying to make, from my perspective at least, is that observed behavior gives me serious doubt as to whether or not I would actually want to be an active part of this community (or WORA, etc etc). So far, I would have to say 'no'. It could be because I value different things or that it's just a few very loud voices that make it impossibly to find any sort of comfort here. It could be that I'm shy.
Likely, it's a combination of 'all of the above'. Still - if there is a hate mob in the MUSH community, you will find it here. And that's...disconcerting.

RE: MSB: The meta-discussion
I could take it or leave it. There are occasionally useful things, but I'm not really a member of the community at large. I'm one of those people that doesn't like the target painted on their head, so I steer clear of a good many of you if I'm honest. I dread the day I do something someone else doesn't like and they run a hate campaign on here for me with their buddies.
So it has its good points and bad points. I think it's more useful for game designers than anything else. That's something I've been gaining interest in learning more about, so it's still a useful tool. If I find a better forum for that, I probably wouldn't have much use for this. Game ads, maybe?
But that's like - just my opinion, man.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
For those using Potato who would like to play the game, but do not like ansi: Go to Options on the top toolbar and click that shit. You'll then want to go to'Configure Program Settings. Then mash that Display option on the left of the window that comes up. This will drop down the Display menu and you'll want to choose the ansi colors option. A new window will come up. You'll see an option with a checkbox that reads: Allow Ansi Colors? If you uncheck that box...badda bing, badda boom. Your world is in black and white again. Super win. ((Final edit. Wanted to make sure this was complete and helpful.))

RE: Kushiel's Debut
You're pretty keyed up. I think you need to relax and forget about this for a while. It is not your job to make apologies for how the game has been run in the past. Stop it. You made a mistake. An honest mistake I can't say I wouldn't have made myself. You're a school teacher. You know you don't need this crap. Take a step back and don't worry about it. I don't mean this to come off as mean, but I really doubt anyone cares enough about KD anymore to bash it.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@GangOfDolls It really depends on what you're looking for, like anything else. It certainly had it's good points and bad points. I'm glad to hear, as Gingerlilly pointed out, that they have more staff now. It was desperately needed as they don't have very good code support. Hopefully that's changed. If they have more staff and a system of checks and balances, then I think you'll have a good time with it. If you're looking for something to mess around on for a while and not something that's going to suck you in, you're better off going with KD than Arx. Arx is pretty involved. That said, the game is not historically drama-free as Gingerlilly said, but it's not as bad as you're likely to find out with five minutes of research either. Things change, though. I wish KD the best of luck moving forward.

RE: An Apology Regarding Kushiel's Debut
It seems sincere. I can accept the apology. I honestly would never go back and play there again, but good on you.
Edit: Not because of you, Gingerlilly. That was just mistakes, the big plot scene. That's forgivable. I had other issues on your game that had nothing to do with you.

RE: Making a MU* of your own
@Thenomain I think everyone has trouble with criticism periodically. It was originally a project I was brainstorming before lovely people came along to help me with all of the things I don't know how to do. Which is everything beyond plot-fu, if I'm to be honest. I'm optimistic, though. I'm not going to doom myself by over-hyping or anything. It'll provide some fun to a lot of folks, I'm fairly confident.

RE: Making a MU* of your own
It's an exciting project, though. I think a lot of people will be happy with it.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Cupcake No, no. That sounds like it's about par for the course. And that you argued probably had him throwing an epic tantrum to anyone in that inner circle that would listen. Because he does that. I kinda' see exactly how all of that went down even though I likely wasn't playing at the time.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@coin Got it! I see what you did there. I admit to taking that out of context. Hope you can excuse the head-scratching there.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@arkandel Very fair point, that. And unfair for me to say 'This sucks, don't play' because it's based solely on my own opinions. And maybe L&L games -are not- for me. If being pretty, going to parties, and making big, pretty poses are one's thing, there is plenty of fun to be had here.
@coin Hey, fair enough, man. It wasn't meant as a dig. Your Option #4 struck me as a little confusing. Feel free to elucidate or don't. Either way, I'll certainly take that under consideration and give more thought towards presumptions I'm making before posting. Sound advice.

To be fair, there's an option #3 there: wasn't online/wasn't interested in either scene, too.
Option #4: Doesn't even play on the game.
Or play just long enough to be involved in aforementioned plot before discontinuing playing on the game. Which amuses me to no end, so don't take it wrong. Either way it's the wisest route to just not get/remain involved with the game.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Pondscum Yes. You've unfortunately described Shangrila.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@VulgarKitten And I'm done talking to you. No offense, but I honestly just can't be arsed. You're a chore. Please do enjoy the thread, though.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@VulgarKitten That would be an entirely fair statement had I picked on you at all, so far. Which I have not! I just wanted to bring the conversation back to the game that this thread is about.
While I wasn't around back then, I will say that @sunny put a LOT of work into getting people involved on KD. This is an irrefutable fact. What did or did not happen on another game doesn't have any bearing here. Your lack of perspicacity does not equal hypocrisy.
So by drudging up an event from 2 years ago from a game that is no longer around in its previous incarnation without having actually been involved or informed of the current situation, you're doing a lot more assuming than you are forming educated opinions on what actually took place on this particular game during a time period you are not familiar with.

@WTFE There are plenty of other games to play. PM me sometime and let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if one of the places I'm playing on might suit you for RP.
Same goes for you, @Three-Eyed-Crow.
