@WTFE There are plenty of other games to play. PM me sometime and let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if one of the places I'm playing on might suit you for RP.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@BigDaddyAmin That's a good question. Possibly? I haven't ever played another L&L type of game before this one. I can only speak for my experiences with Skaldia. Which are mostly pleasant to your face. I've been clued in to his absolutely irrational rage-fits behind the scenes over some pretty ridiculous, innocuous things.
Shy? Self-image issues? Meh. That's between him and his shrink.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@VulgarKitten Well, the perception on my part is that you saw an opportunity to pick on someone you clearly don't like for reasons you've clearly been holding onto for a while. I could absolutely be wrong, but those airs are fairly palpable.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@VulgarKitten I can dig that, but a.) it does nothing to illustrate the actual problems on the game we're currently discussing on this thread b.) you've actually managed to detract from this conversation with your laser focus on a thing that you might be remembering in a bit of a revisionist's light and c.) if you wanted to smear someone over a game 2 years ago, you know you can always take that to the Hog Pit.
I can dig that you had interpersonal problems with @Sunny, @VulgarKitten, but is this really the proper thread to air them in? C'mon.

@VulgarKitten Yet important enough to you still to bring up almost 2 years later...

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Goyim Oh, there was all sorts of written smut there. Homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual, bdsm...and so on. We didn't discriminate nor had I ever run into a problem concerning that. The nonsexual RP was a lot of fun too, for the record.
Edit: Also, did I miss a meeting? MUSHing always struck me as a fairly 'nerdy' hobby. Did MUSHing suddenly make you James Dean/Hugh Heffner/Joan Jett/etc? Fuck me. Why doesn't anyone wake me up for these revelations?

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I firmly aknowledge that my take on plot and KD staff's take on plot are diametrically different.
Do I think I could do better? Oh heavens yes. In fact, I was in the middle of writing a PrP for KD to get quite a few people involved in that don't normally get to be involved in things. That went south with some miscommunication and staff bringing a character back from the dead after saying I could use their player-created group in said PrP...which was going to revolve around that. That sucks for me, but I really doubt Ash had any malicious intent towards me or anything like that. It did leave that PrP a bit dead in the water.
I take full responsibility that my reaction ended in: Pssht. Why bother?
But really...how could it not? Not that I need overwhelming appreciation for a well-crafted story, but if @Sunny's experience is any indication of the sort of 'thank you' one gets for trying to cater to the population of the game that isn't within the staff inner circle...
That sort of thing isn't very conducive to my creative process, sadly.
I sincerely wish all the best for KD and its players. I do hope for them that the current staff, which seems very disinterested in actually running a publicly-listed MUSH, steps down and takes a break. Let someone else run the game. I'm fairly certain that the majority would be the happier for it.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@VulgarKitten A marked difference there is that once someone sets down a boundary and says 'I need a break' and that boundary is broken, the person doing the breaking is the asshole in that situation. Every time.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Arkandel I actually share your disappointment. KD has an amazing amount of potential. Under different staff, it could truly be an amazing game. I also had a great time on there and met some cool people, quite a few of which I still play with on other games. The problem came with one of the staff alts involved in the plot rubbing that information in certain peoples' faces OOCly and flagrantly refusing to help get others involved at the same time. This is also an objectively -bad move- by staff.
The issue wasn't as much the plot having limited seats, but with how it was handled. Everyone at that scene was a staff alt or long-time friends with staff on this game save for like...one or two of them? Asherat certainly does have the capacity for warmth and welcoming, but I don't think she actually...does anything. Save for the occasional PrP with her friends.
I had fun there at one point! I met lots of great people and I still encourage folks to go and RP there. Most of the players are absolutely amazing and creative folks. Just stay the hell away from the staff alts and their cadre. It's not hard to figure out who they are.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@ThatGuyThere Skaldia isn't likely to get your message, sadly. His 'big move' was to call everyone who left his game 'cowards' and then to...run off back to his game. Funny ol' world, isn't it?
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Three-Eyed-Crow I like your optimism, but don't like the odds. This is Skaldia's general reaction to people who disagree with him about even the smallest things. He just decided to make a spectacle of himself this time.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@deadculture Huh. Having a hard time picking out an argument here. Looks like the poster was just expressing a lack of desire to play the game in a reasonable context? I could be wrong.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Jaded Oh, staff there is terrible. I've realized that for some time. I tended to steer clear of staff and their buddies on that game and fly under the radar for that very reason.
I just finally realized I should have never given the game a second chance. I'm glad I did because I met some cool folks. The game itself? Hasn't changed, won't change. If you like a social fluff sandbox, it's totally for you. If not, keep moving.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@deadculture I am, but you're wrong on the second one. You see, as hard as it might be for you to believe, snookums, more people than just Emma, Avi, and I are/were unhappy with KD.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@deadculture Not that I feel threatened, but it seemed an awful like a veiled threat to me. Chum.
-
RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Lorne'eth I didn't quit because any of this effected me directly, really. I quit because I realized what type of game it was at that point and chose to end my involvement.
But yes. Essentially. This is why I don't endorse it:
-
Very little plot.
-
Staff is next to nonexistent, having no real presence on the game unless you're in their play circle RPing with their alts (The Royalty).
-
When Asherat does actually get involved in running the game, she does not do well. The game has too many players for her to manage in what little plot there is.
-
Skaldia... well, you saw. Don't need to go into that, obviously.
Umm...not even going to touch staff favoritism. Play the game or don't. Draw your own conclusion. But there you have it. This is why I think KD is a bad game. That Martin's friggin' player @deadculture popped in to bait people and make veiled threats at me is really a testament to what you're in for playing here. Staff won't bully you directly. They'll get their buddies to do it for them.

RE: Kushiel's Debut
I'm not upset. Like I said. I've found plenty of fun elsewhere. Someone was genuinely concerned with what happened, so I gave what I knew. I'm not here to defend my quitting of a, in my opinion, bad game. Whatsoever.
I will say it's a regular laugh riot that the only people defending the behavior were the ones involved. Yay?

RE: Kushiel's Debut
@Echx I think you probably missed the part where she was getting willfully stonewalled by staff for trying to get other people involved, Echx. That's sure to sour a relationship.
