@Luna I gotta wait and get some more shaving stuff. This is bad. I was thinking of trying waxing, but lord knows how I'd make that go awry.

@Thenomain HR? Tetchy? HE MUST BE THE POD PERSON THAT ESCAPED FROM THE BLACK HOLE I THREW HIM INTO.

I will say that overpopulation is doing a fucking number on the environment.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
That reminds me, I need to buy shaving soap. Also, fuck fleas. So much.

@Luna Smaller city. But yeah, the safety net here has more holes than a piece of cloth after a fight with a tommy gun.

Texas' sex ed is... abysmal and they've been tearing apart Planned Parenthood.
I'm sorry the conversation turned this way. I didn't mean to turn it into bash on parents hour. It's just frustrating that my options are far more limited due to childlessness. I'm not having kids on account of massive mental illness and health issues and I don't think I could give them the care kids need.
The indigent health care (for adults who can't get medicaid) place was awful. The lady screamed at me and I ended up just leaving.
Edit: And yikes. I've only seen some mommy wars from the sidelines. I've honestly stayed friends with most of the parents on my list and I understand that seeing them is a treat, not a regular thing like when I was doing my first degree and everyone didn't have kids, so more free time, etc. etc.

@Miss-Demeanor Woo, the south. Sadly, I can't get free healthcare.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@Miss-Demeanor Sounds like it. Hooray Texas. I even applied for the indigent adult health care and the lady on the phone screamed at me. That was fun.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@Miss-Demeanor And that's what makes this whole thing especially shameful. They stick 'for families on it' then deny it to even families. It's baffling.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@Luna Well, tell that to Texas. Apparently it's hard as hell to get food stamps. I can't get medicaid unless I have a kid. The cash aid/TANF is out to anyone without kids, especially kids under 18. So basically, you ain't shit until you reproduce.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe it's vital to help parents rear their chitlins. But it sucks ass to do so by excluding childless people.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Texas really fucking hates unemployed and disabled people without kids. Jesus H. Christ, you'd think I was trying to run around and take tax dollars then cackle while I buy some fucking rice and beans for the month.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
@Derp Yeah, but this is still no excuse for being a dick when you don't need to be.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
Oh, here's one. Someone tells me I can't be seriously mentally ill because I have a degree. Wow. Thanks... I feel a lot better about it now...

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
I guess they figure they have to tell little white lies, lest someone spot them for the giant, assholish rhinoceros of conversation they are. Or it's a 'brace yourself' kind of cue.
Don't get me wrong. I've said plenty of things I regret. But there's often at least a way to say something that might be harsh without totally tearing into someone.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
It's like the not racist butt.
Why not phrase an objection like 'Hey, I realize you probably put a lot of thought and care into what you did, but I don't think that outfit is a good idea for what we're going to do this evening'. Using 'I' and owning the words helps, I think instead of 'Wow, your outfit is terrible for what we're doing'. It sort of softens the blow, and if they still flip out over 'I don't think that outfit is such a good idea for what we're doing, why not try (WHATEVER)?', then yeah.

RE: RL things I love
I made my first lasagna. Ricotta was involved, as was pesto. It was great! Ugly looking, but not all of us can sacrifice goats to a dark lord for pretty food talent.

RE: RL peeves! >< @$!#
I always worry I come off as fake. I know a lot of people assume I'm aloof and snobby. No, I'm just afraid. Sorry.
Also, I really wish these fleas and mosquitoes would go right to Hell.

RE: What Do You Love About WoD?
@ThatGuyThere I dunno. On one game, it was hilarious that she ended up having a bunch of Traddies hang out and/or try to grab her. It baffled, but it was a hoot, too. I tried not to be a douchebag about the whole paradigm thing. If mages didn't go all Gandalf in the streets, she didn't fuss too much. She mostly wanted to go into spaaaaaaaace and explore.
And it was fun to SCIENCE! chat with 'em when the other Technos didn't feel sciencey.
