    • RE: Hello!Project's Playlist

@Salty My primary memory of Edge of Midnight was banging a dragon and those two women who hung out in the square transmuting me into tons of different species.

      I probably deserved it.

Also surprised to learn it still exists. Honestly as far as MUDs go, for as ridiculous as the concept was, it had a ton of depth and was a rare RPI MUD.

UPDATE: Apparently all this time I was thinking of Sophie, and just kind of forgot that Beaumont had a second sister. So apparently who I'm actually looking for is 2016 Sophie lol.

Since you're all discussing cyberpunk, thought I'd pop in here with this.

I figured you were at the very least from 2K5 or 2K5-adjecent. I never played it, but a lot of the population from it are in other games that I play.

The heatwave borderline dehydrated this orange I forgot to eat, and now I'm trying to throw it out but my brain wants to make friends with and talk to it.

When I was a kid, I just generally accepted my weird tendency to make friends with and talk to inanimate objects, but as an adult I've begun to realize that it's not a habit that one should indulge.

@Aria said in MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't):

Also, double post because A++, would play fae L&L game. Please make the thing now, despite the title of this thread.

A part of the reason I made this thread is in case anyone got inspired by other people's ideas they didn't want to make for one reason or another.

Also I would play a fae L&L game too, to be honest. Similar vibes to Hell in my opinion, but more trippy bullshit.

My parents are staying here while their new house gets ready for them to move into it (here being my grandmother's house).

      I'm already irritable.

I legitimately hate my life and my parents make me wish I didn't exist.

    • RE: Evennia - a Python-Based Mu* Server

Is it constructive if I say, "Won't somebody listen to Reason?!"

But really, @Reason makes a good point about Python. I don't -know- it, but after I've gotten better at C++ (I'm learning it for a specific reason), I plan to learn Python.

They actually have a web based terminal for learning Python on Code Academy, without the need for even getting a compiler or anything.

This website is the reason I know any code at all, because combing through piles of documentation as a non-coder made it really difficult for me (though documentation is now easier for me to understand -because- of this site): https://www.codecademy.com/

MUers are some of the only people who have made me feel like I have a family except for my grandparents and my best friend.

Everyone else just wants to fucking fight over stupid shit, do insane fucking manipulative witchcraft bullshit because apparently old people have nothing better to do, or just be con artists and try to talk me into joining pyramid schemes.

Granted, my birth father's side of the family are really, really good at somehow actually succeeding when they join a pyramid scheme, I don't wanna fucking do it.

My family makes me feel isolated, on top of all the shit my immediate family has done that's delayed my life so much. This is why I work so hard and why I've dedicated myself to trying to learn music and code and stuff. I just want to get out of this and be independent.

    • RE: The State of the Chronicles of Darkness

Considering everything I've learned about making tabletop books in the last few months (from actual published pros), I'm somewhat puzzled at why this is taking so long 0_o.

      Maybe White Wolf is different.

Maybe there's rituals and blood sacrifices that are beyond my limited experience to understand.

      Update:

My mother treated my stepdad like shit for no less than 10+ hours today, and I could barely sleep through that + my neighbors drilling holes in the wall. Then my stepdad finally snapped and threatened to burn the house down with everyone in it.

Personally I hope he does it, I'm just about done with all of this shit and if I can't even have five minutes of peace to get my shit together, I'd quite honestly rather he just fucking do it than me have to spend more time here.

    • RE: Evennia - a Python-Based Mu* Server

I will say this, from the perspective of someone who is on the far end of the newbie spectrum of code? I find the idea of learning Python to be way simpler and more appealing than scaling the wall of, say, MUSH code. It's not that MUSH code is more difficult, it's just that learning it never really felt all that intuitive to me. I feel like I could just up and go start learning Python and applying it right now if I wanted to, because there's a million resources. If one doesn't work, I can try another.

But as far as the subject at hand, I've never really seen player-side code fundamentally change an entire game? Except the controversy surrounding the random name generator on Match of the Millennium >_>.

It seems like more of a luxury than anything.

    • RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff

I thought I'd post again, since today is weird.

This morning I thought we had an earthquake, since my bed was shaking and it felt like the earthquake we had years ago. Then I read online that we did not, in fact, have an earthquake.

Due to my upbringing, and googling "bed shaking" on the internet, I quickly came to the conclusion that my bed was haunted due to the fact that I spent the last few weeks telling ghosts to come fight me because I'll kick their ass. Then the other day I declared that ghosts did not exist because they clearly never seem to show up. It all made sense.

Then I remembered that I have an actual medically diagnosed disorder that causes me to have waking hallucinations (sleep paralysis), among other related symptoms that come with it, plus only sleeping for about 4 hours a night for like the last week or so and having a weird headache.

So like, I'm thinking it's probably my brain and not ghosts, but just in case I think I might give my bed a mild exorcism when I can find some olive oil.

    • RE: How important are rooms poll

This might sound weird, but I enjoy grids that have interesting built in hooks, which was kind of how Multiverse Crisis MUSH's last grid was (I haven't seen the new one, so I can't comment on it). There was always cool stuff to do with a particular room.

I also enjoy plot hooks being hidden in a room desc, which is something that Megaman MUSH does. A lot of people don't even catch that they -are- plot hooks, so it's a pretty interesting thing.
