I do not see the need to debate the merit. It was never intended for supernaturals to have. Specifically this was a hunter merit to level the playing field slightly. For the most part supernaturals still have the bigger upper hand. After all they are supernatural, go figure.
However I don't mind it being opened up as a Mortal-Only type merit. Again, level the playing field slightly. Sure remove the multi-attack support etc from the rote ability, let's be honest. They are still mortal. Still squishy.

May have yelled out loud "KITTEN!! IT'S SO CUTE AND FLUFFY LOOKING! OH MY GOD I WANT TO PET IT!!!" prompting my roommate to once again remind me, that I am apparently a large grown-ass man, and should not be losing my shit like that over kittens.
Large, grown-ass man who loves kittens.
Just saying.
Flag on the Field... Gronk is a large Man-Baby. I don't mean it in a bad way either, and I'm definitely not a pats fan.
@Ghost said in CofD and Professional Training:
I have zero doubt that Gordon Ramsay could cook me up a super-nice, rote-grade version of macaroni and cheese with his eyes closed, but where PT is concerned, Gordon Ramsay (crafts5 w 8/9/rote) could approach the following as if they were as difficult as making macaroni and cheese:
- Making a katana
- Cooking a Michelin Star grade meal for the Queen of England
- a birthday cake made out of human skin
- Recreating the Mona Lisa with matching brush strokes
- Making a samurai grade suit of lamellar armor to go along with a Hanzo sword of his own design.
This is where I think PT is broken. IMO the benefits should all be restricted to uses WITHIN SAID PROFESSION and the rote usage should be restricted to dice rolls that are not considered extended dice rolls.
Be it NWoD or CofD, I've seen too many people apply benefits of PT to other used outside of their professional training. Staff should make this distinction and keep an eye on it.
In short: Being an expert pastry chef with 8/9/rote on crafts rolls should never be applied to forging Hattori Hanzo katana
Edit/Afterthought: It is my belief that the draw for PT isn't to have 8/9/rote in <skillname> rolls pertaining to profession, but to have 8/9/rote in all uses of that skill, which is overpowered and, IMO, gamebreaking.
I don't disagree with this point here. However, wasn't oWoD all based on skills and subskills, points in cooking etc etc? Seems a general skill roll is what was being aimed for.
@sockmonkey I bought myself and my buddy a Star Wars Fan package for opening night. Which was great! Except I purchased it before realizing my new job trains the same day, so getting there will be a matter of avoiding speeding tickets.
In other words. I cannot wait either. I think it will be good.
Here's your Last Jedi Spoiler... kidding.
However. The Last Jedi did not suck. At least for me. I can only explain it as, I have not been so emotionally and physically excited to be watching a Star Wars film since I was a kid, and Empire came out, and I got to see it at our Drive-In Theater, same for Jedi. Just... I'm so glad I bought the package for my buddy and I.

Did someone say First Responder?

@ashen-shugar I would swear that is our old black cat. He had that magic power of being everywhere at once and five times as loud as any cat ever.
This is the power of the Black Cat.... while it thinks it's cry is that of the mighty jungle panther. Instead, it is loud and piercing. Especially during internet communications.
@auspice I'm just going to give you this very platonic "I understand your pain" hug. This past term, I had an excellent understanding Prof (with material that I was struggling with.), and retaking a god-awful course with a god-awful prof who was so bad at her job, late feedback, arbitrary grading style, never responds to emails/messages etc., she was replaced during during winter break for the last two weeks of the class. So, I'm just going to take my D and be happy its no longer an F and move along.
But I know your struggling and the quicksand anxiety it can make.
I'd love the option to ride one of those big bikes they have kicking around. I'd murder if somehow... we got co-op play.
Regardless, I'm excited. I'm pretty sure the ship in the teaser is the USS Constitution in dry dock, so I want to explore its dark post-war secrets!
@cobaltasaurus ! In that case....

@aria I think the whole 'matching bra/panties' thing is silly. Yes, for dates, sure.
I wear more interesting/wild socks to make office / business-casual jobs easier to handle. THEY CAN'T POLICE MY SOCKS.
Well. That depends on the career field, really.
@thebird SyFy went back to it's roots.
The new season of Defiance is great, a much more indepth look at Nolan's past with irisa.
Killjoys is completely enjoyable and addictive. Dark matter is certainly ramping up and getting more interesting every episode.
I'm looking forward to The Expanse, and Childhood's End later this year.

That's like saying a car is not a substitute for a truck (because despite both being vehicles you can't cart a piano around in a car) any more than a bicycle is not a substitute for a fighter jet (because despite both being conveyances you can't fire missiles from a bicycle). Other than being condiments, mustard and ketchup are completely different beasts, but miracle whip was created specifically as a cheaper alternative to mayonnaise and made using the same key ingredients as mayonnaise, just in different amounts. In particular, the only reason miracle whip wasn't labeled as a type of mayonnaise is because it doesn't meet a minimum vegetable oil content required for labeling purposes.
Sure, they're 'different', but in the way that two very similar but not identical things are 'different'. That is not even remotely the way ketchup and mustard are 'different'.
Now you're just comparing apples and oranges.
