How about we fix the reason for police PCs so they aren't always creating antagonists of other PCs? While it's good to makes sure that characters always have some level of checks and balances, I never got the impression that police PCs vs. other PCs was very fun.

RE: What themes and subjects do you look for in a game?
I probably wouldn't play on a historical game, not because I don't like history but because I respect people who know it too much and I don't know it, therefore I would ruin it. Also, I've seen other people play historical games with a laissez faire that I don't want to see.

RE: Muxify (MU code editor)
As a note, this line comes from here:

Mind you, when I copy/paste it, it works fine.

Already said not going to do it for reasons of logistic nightmare.

I don't want to play any game where sex or politics is the primary goal of the game or sphere.

This thread for coding the roller. At this point, go ahead and ignore the initial requirements, as we are getting Python options too.

RE: 7th Sea dice
Since this topic came up from another thread, this is where I stopped:
Find the most efficient "adds to 15" combinations of dice, for people rolling skills that gain 2 raises per 15. Find the most efficient "adds to 10" combinations of dice, for all other situations. These were brute-forced lists of numbers, starting at '1 1 1 6 6' (5 dice adding to 15) and going from there. Yes, really, I coded a system to find this out. I was super inefficiently lazy about this, and it took Mux about a week to work through '1 1 1 1 1? No. 1 1 1 1 2? No.' for the 10s.
Like I said, I was being lazy.
Then I deleted it, because of the "GM Dice Overflow" situation and I'd already spent almost a month on the problem. If I could do a "most number of raises" and "most number of raises while eliminating unused dice", present both to the player, I don't think any more options need to be made.
I still believe, along with @faraday, that forcing the player to play a minmax game is silly at best.

To answer the other question:
@deadculture said in 7th Sea 2nd Edition:
...What amount of asking/begging would it take for you to have a second go at the 1e? Or paying, I suppose!
When I'm done with WoD Mage the Awakening v2 code, perhaps. You know, some years from now.

RE: 7th Sea 2nd Edition
There was a reason I abandoned that kind of sort, and I can't remember right now what it was. Perhaps it was because it's a balance between very occasionally getting another raise if you sort a different way, vs. very occasionally denying the GM leftover dice. For the latter, you have to purposefully be inefficient.
Without a single sorting mechanism, or even one and a half, I threw my hands up and uttered an unsubtle "fuck it". There's a thread about it somewhere, possibly in the code section.

I may have gotten wires crossed, here. My 1e roller is complete. It's the 2e roller that's gird-tastic.@deadculture
I had no problem with the 1e advantages. Haven't looked at 2e deep enough. -
RE: How Many Alts Would An Alt User Alt If An Alt User Could Use Alts
And yet, on every WoD game I've seen open for more than six months, there is a push for more alts. Yes, even the single-sphere games, what few of them have existed.

I tend to liken them to reading a book. Often a book written by a horned-up teenager. Or a psychopath. Or both.
One of the original Penn devs said that TS was no more horrible than coauthored fiction-based mutual masturbation.
This pertains to nothing, just coming out of the grab bag of thoughts that is my head this afternoon.

RE: 7th Sea 2nd Edition
I actually think having PvP options is a good idea for online games even if they won't be focusing on PvP, but I was already typing and I wasn't going to let a good joke go to waste. Or even a bad one, apparently.
I would start from scratch. My 1e code is horrific, tho it works surprisingly well. I tried to write an interpreter for the roll system and without making house-rule changes, it is a level of complexity as used by warehouse shipment systems. I kid you not. Both @Chime and @faraday took a crack at it, and we all gave up.
I can get to close enough, but I try not to code "close enough" as then it becomes a de facto house rule enforced by code. I'm not a fan.
(Side note: that last sentence was suggested to my by my iPad. It is learning how I think. Neat!)

RE: Do you believe in paranormal things?
Thesis: Throw a random statement in the center of a bunch of nerds and you will end up with chaos.
Discussion, Debate, and Commons: Wut? No, you! No, your mom! Wut? Science isn't magic! Magic isn't discussed! But science! Wut? Science! No, science! No, your mom science! Wut?
Conclusion: Nerds are fucking weird.

RE: Interest/Volunteer Check: Major Multisphere Chronicles of Darkness
The system can be 100% automated for XP spends. Even stupid things like "half price if this bloodline and also spirit allies 2 or higher and it's the third Thursday before the first full moon of the month." It's staff who choose what can't be casually bought, such as Willpower dots or Blood Potency 6. Having staff be intimately involved with character advancement is a powerful tool. That some games have to turn it into a bureaucratic chore is unfortunate.
Staff are going to get headaches with Changeling's Clarity trait, which will go up and down so much as to make Harmony seem stable.
I may also force them to be involved when Arcane Beats are being spent, until I can comfortably come up with a solution.

RE: The basketball thread
This thread reminds me of the famous YouTube video "Wresling Isn't Wrestling", about the meta-ness of professional wrestling.
