"UncategorizedPages" is the page Special:UncategorizedPages, and the category is created by DPL as a way to list matched pages with no category.

I believe all "Special:" pages are created on the fly, and therefore trying "notlinksfrom" and "notlinksto" aren't working.

I can also make sure all help pages not intended to be listed have a special category ([[Category:Nohelpindex]], perhaps), but all coders are lazy and work very hard to stay that way.

@Glitch: Nope. Not {} nor {{}} around page.

I believe what this does is: Exclude all pages with a category of <name of this page>. Since <this page> is "Help:Content", not sure that was going to work anyway.

Without altering database tables, how do I get rid of "Uncategorized pages" here:

      http://eldritch.mechanipus.com/w/index.php?title=Help:Content

      Thanks.

How many times have I asked for early access to the new Werewolf book? Make this six.

Edit: we barely have a /request/ system, let alone a justification one. I myself am not willing to settle on an answer to a thing until we get closer to the relevance of the question.

      Academically, tho, tread on!

@Thenomain Hey! First rule of Evil Owls is don't nobody talk about evil owls...

I thought you guys were telling me "stop making fun of Evil Owls". I didn't think they were serious enough to consider not talking about them for any other reason.

(I'm kidding, folks. Strix hit my Silly Plot-Device button, but I'm made assure by real story-tellers that they're good enemies.)

The very first decision I heard about running things was how Evil Owls and Angels and Loonies will all get all up in each other's business, assuring that all plot can potentially drag through multiple spheres. No one group will be treated lightly by another sphere's big-bad.

That is, Strix may screw up something the God-Machine is doing and cause some collateral effects that gain the attention of PCs. Maybe even Werewolf PCs.

This was when I went from installing chargen to coding everything.

The Portal 2 Soundtrack may be the single most reliable bit of code-inspiration music for me. If I'm not in the mood, feeling stuck, or de-motivated, within two tracks I'm ready to roll.

I prefer the name "sphere" than "splat" (and "game line" over either), and prefer the term "sphere wizard" than "TL" but man, were we bitching about them under any name since time immemorial.

Oh, was Aether a WoD game?

It wasn't, no, but it had staffers in charge of maintaining the four main races, as in the NPCs et al., clearing all the characters with that particular species, being the primary contact, and so on. This was before we had a name for TLs, but they did the things that we now think are mandatory, but they did it without the current spate of ego and entitlement.

I know the question was meant to be another unhelpful throw-away line meant to ridicule and nothing else, but I still wanted to answer it as if you cared.

Not having a TL also means there's no one person who has final say over a particular sphere, which means anything that requires escalation to that one person instead tends to end up in committee.

Or "man/woman on the scene" plus robust communication. The only time I've seen a TL situation not end up in Every Sphere a Kingdom was Aether, 2008, because nobody was in charge of every aspect of a piece of the game. This was by design and while some noses got out of joint from time to time, how the non-TLs accepted this rule made the game run smoothly. More or less.

So yeah, Sarcastro, it can be done.

      @Miss-Demeanor
Huh, then I have no idea. This shouldn't surprise anyone.

Mind you, I was probably right. I think one of the reasons we're not going the TL route is because it encourages the kind of thinking where people are not allowed to meddle in each other's areas of expertise. God knows I heard so much whining of TLs at other TLs on The Reach that when I wore a hat that said, "Responsible For Everything Staff Says And Does", reaching in and smacking people around was something I did far too often.

Mind you, I was probably right. I just was not the person who should have done it.

@Coin, I think she means that we should write down policies, maybe put code somewhere. I had some more written about her suggestion, but some of it was bitterness when she yelled at me on her game for not reading the one thing that I was never told to read, but at least it was written down somewhere? I think there needs to be more to it than that, but given the long history of people yelling at players for not doing the one thing they weren't told they had to do, I can understand the fear of something not being written down.

(Games I've been yelled at for not doing something I wasn't told to do, or yelled at for doing something I wasn't told not to do: The Reach, Haunted Memories, Dark Metal, Shadowed Isles, Start Your Engines, Ashes to Ashes, I think the only WoD games I've played on where this didn't happen to me were Paris and NYC, where someone talked to me first.)

If it makes you feel better, Theno, I concur with that decision.

A bit. I am not afraid to explore less simplistic options if information can be discovered, or a better methodology planned. In this case, I believe the exploration has confirmed that there is no easy answer, and so (at the moment) I prefer the socially accepted levels of unfairness.

After much consideration and continuing discussion both here and behind every scene on our Super-Private-Clique Planning Forum, I think we're going to do this with waiting lists: Not have them.

While I enjoyed the back and forth, and I learned a lot and got to think about things I normally don't, for now I think the complexity of many proposals outweighs the benefits of what they're meant to do.

Of course, we could change our minds before we open.

      Or some time after.

      Any time, really.

And if someone abuses the spirit of what a game is for, it's up to staff, not code nor a fine-tuned policy of exactness and legalese, to work out the best solution to that.

Not that Ernies own tactics weren't polarizing.

You also tended to limit your eye-rolling when people didn't act intimidated, though I did give you a hard time for the whole concept. Maybe I shouldn't have, but especially after the introduction of "Truth & Lies" it became a process of turning possible avenues of drama into mush.

"Are you a Loyalist? Are you planning harm on anyone in the Freehold? Okay, done." We needed a scene for this because why? It's called "The Welcome Wagon" on The Reach, and I encourage people to skip it entirely unless they want the RP, which is a good reason to have scenes, but many Fear Wardens (HM) and many Welcome Wagoneers (TR) used it as an excuse to show off.

The show-off was a huge turn-off for many players, and became a chore that must be survived for them.

For those who don't know, the Changeling power "Truth & Lies" (or sight of truth & lies or something close to that) would allow you to detect lies at a 100% rate. There was a drawback, but it might as well have been "your nose gets clogged up" for as inconvenient as it was.

Liane/VASpider (aka Atlantis @ The Reach) overdid what was already practice designed to kill creativity, but I really blame Truth & Lies.

We've been promised "no goblin contracts" in Wild Hunt Chronicles, and it can't happen soon enough for me just to kill that damned power.

That's okay. Your professor would have just ignored the end of the world and continued on like it didn't happen, forcing you to start your own class just for people who'd rather lose their compsci books.

@Glitch, we're pretty much ready, we just want to be sure. And like I said, it's an interesting discussion to me.

I can say we've all flipped our opinion at least once, so there's no bunkering down at all.

Hell, I'm prepared to accept, even enjoy, "first come, first served" at this point, which you may see me leaning toward at the end of my otherwise not-really-but-actually-really-pedantic post.
