Totally basic I think...but a Star Wars game set during the early days of the Rebellion. No force users, no FCs, and set in a corner of the Empire to start with no regard for future canon. Most fun I ever had MU*ing was probably at SW: Uprising in the early 2000s. Let's go steal some X-Wing prototypes.

@GangOfDolls said in Is this a really dumb theme?:
Not dumb at all. I think what might be a task to manage is the theme: low-tech 50s.
I like this theme but it's one of those things that if you want purity on the theme, it'll require some monitoring of players when they let non-50s things seep into the game.
This is something to think about in terms of how theme is theme and how much you want people to stick to it.
For sure. I expect this will be small enough that monitoring things will be doable enough...especially since most players will probably be folks I know.

RE: Is this a really dumb theme?
Yeah absolutely. Alt history is rather more fun than actual history for a reason.

@Ghost Thanks! I just needed someone else to be like...that sounds cool! The internet has jaded me.

Oh yeah. I'd hate to have an actually popular game. Niche and nerdy is the ticket.

Is this a really dumb theme?
So, I have been mushing for years and have recently gotten back into it(Mostly sci-fi and early Wheel of Time games). I am feeling the urge to run a little mush again. I'm installing Ares Mush, and trying to decide on a theme. I wanted something that would work well FS3, and came up with what might be the most idiotic thing....but it also seems like it could be a lot of fun in a pick up and play kind of way.
1950s low-ish tech alien invasion of Earth. Laser guns and flying saucers vs early jets to start, that kind of thing. Not exactly deep moody RP, but light maybe slightly gritty fluff. Not the place for people who want a character to last for years, probably.
That is real dumb, right?
