I don't understand how that is sushi. It's a bacon cheeseburger.

I'm West on Reno, by the way. Vampire char. Feel free to poke me for RP, BG hooks, or whatever else. I'm friendly.
So, I was thinking that since we have so many new mushes starting up these days, and since we have so many threads about all the wrong things to do, that we should have a thread dedicated entirely to the /right/ things people have done. This can be anything; theme, code, staff policies, player base, anything that stood out to you and made your experience better.
This has been touched here and there in other threads. I want to see what people come up to when focused. Try to focus on good things. Nothing in MuLand is ever perfect, but focusing on the good things can be just as constructive as focusing on what didn't work.
As for me, hmmm. I've only been playing for about three and a half years, and only on HM and TR, so I'm limited. I can think of a couple of little things, though.
Haunted Memories
I liked the setting. A big city, so lots of room and niches to fill. A hub for folks coming from all over the world with easy excuses to be there. It was fairly dark.
I also liked the XP system, despite all the complaints with it. I felt it rewarded activity, and STing. Some folks have claimed that catching up was impossible but I managed to. That said, it would depend on the Mu.
The Reach
I liked the Want RP code, for one. I only wish more people used it.
I also liked +badges. Everyone loves to be acknowledged for things. Look at achievements on Steam. It should be more widely-known that anyone can request one for someone, though. Love the idea, though.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll think of a dozen other things. It's amazing how easy it is to think of all the problems and how difficult it is to think of the good bits. Should be enough to get us started, though. I can't wait to see what you all come up with.
To whoever removes light bulbs from shared hallways and stairways because he/she is too cheap and/or lazy to go and buy a light bulb... you are an asshole.
I finally logged into this place and I just have to say I was impressed. Although small, the staff and the players seem super-friendly. The news and help files are very well-written, and the CG layout is pretty sweet. If you're a Changeling player, it's definitely worth checking out.
Geek moment.
Returning to an MMO after being absent for a couple years (two expansions). Choosing a role I've never played. Becoming the best in the group after a week or two at it. I am the healiest healz evah.
Also, getting over my fear of random groups.
Not sure if this qualifies as 'RL' but it's not MU*ing so I posted it here. Because I'm proud of myself.
I played SHH when it first opened. I found it fairly friendly and easy to find RP on, but people were a little trigger-happy with the 'fixing things' in my opinion. With the high-level chars, it seemed like the post-apoc setting wouldn't last for long, and that they'd nearly solved it a mere month into the game thanks to Magely things. Other than that, I enjoyed the game. I think it would have been better as a Mage-only game, or with everyone starting at the same level, but staff and players were both friendly and I found a good amount of RP. Keep in mind, this was months ago, so I don't know how it's changed since.
My Toshiba laptop, which I've had just over a year, is already dying. The keyboard went out and now the fan/HD are starting to go. The ASUS I had before lasted me over five years, on two continents, and still works other than a limping graphics card.
Lesson learned: Buy ASUS. Do not buy Toshiba.
I don't think @thebird was comparing 'lol' and 'heh' so much as simply stating that there's a text-related habit that also irks her. And I'll have to agree that 'heh' does tend to sound a bit sarcastic and snarky, to me, but I think it's different depending on what MU* culture (different MU*s do have different cultures, after all) that you came from. And lol, to me, tends so sound a bit... lacking in effort.
Personally, I try to avoid both of them. Acronyms in general, although I'm guilty of using them every now and then when I get excited or am in a hurry (generally 'brb' when I have to go in a hurry or 'omg' when I'm talking about the Walking Dead).
