It depends how long you give people. Weird accidents do happen. Medical things can put people out of action for a time. Either directly or too a loved one. And when that happens last priority is letting a MU* know you are going to be away. Even if you are capable of it.

So there really needs to be some mechanism for chars to return, or a long grace period.

Shulkie! I played a bunch of chars on CC. I think Lady Atom was probably the most famous? I think we had a friend in common back in Sweden?

I love baking and cooking. Sadly none of us in the household should have too many baked goods for various reason 😛 Still my TT group appreciates what we don't/shouldn't eat 😛

Considering gender of players is about parity I would suggest there may be more to this story.

If you like Dresdenverse Dark Spires is quite good. Nice and helpful players, cool staff. Little tolerance for drahmaz. But it does run FATE which some folks don't like

I finally got to see it. I have to agree. It was bloody awesome. I was so worried they were gonna bomb it, but they really pulled through.

      Although, goddamn, Carrie got old.

And Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill didn't?

@icanbeyourmuse Hmm hard question to answer as to a degree it does depend on the individual. FATE by itself is not too hard, one you grasp Aspects etc, but some of the supernatural stuffs, Magic especially gets trickier. But there as some nice guides on the page, and plenty of helpful folks.

As regards to the Dresdenverse. Long series of books, that IMHO are worth reading. Again lots of helpful people and starting as a vanilla mortal is viable. Lots of good reasons to be in Oxford.

It's a long and geeky story involving SEAChat and Nephilim. But gone by it for decades now.

@Usekh How do you say it? In my head you're use-kay. I'm almost sure it's use-kuh but I can't make that happen.

It is the name of one of the Egyptian Judges of the Dead, but I have no idea how to properly pronounce it. Friends have been known to say "Yu Suck" 😉 but I ago with "oou-seck"

    • RE: Characters: What keeps you?

I tend to suck at playing characters long term, but what does make me stick with a char is having something to do. As long as it doesn't get too overwhelming (Like when Brigit was getting three sets of recurring dreams from three different plots, or Branwen trying to keep track of a half dozen plots at once)

But aside from that basically feeling useful and having something to do makes me stick with characters. Also having one that is fun to RP, and cool people to bounce off.

Tennis. In general I vaguely dislike most sports, but Tennis and the moaning and grunting and shrieking when they are hitting a ball....wtf? I keep checking to see if it has turned into some kind of combative orgy, but nope just fuckwits who seem to want to sound like they are giving birth to tennis balls.

You likely shouldn't be drinking diet sodas even if you are diabetic; studies suggest that consuming diet sodas may increase insulin resistance.

Which studies? Do you have any links? I've heard this before but the sum total of wading through the studies I have found come down to: Drinking diet soda frequently seems to lead to an unhealthy lifestyle and dietary decisions that contribute to blah blah blah.

Considering I never said that I have no idea which studies @BetterJudgment was referring too.

@Coin Actually most people don't really adapt to killing our own species that well. Militaries have spent serious amounts studying how to overcome this, not so much in dealing with the results of that however.
