Coin put it lightly. I'd say "entitled and insensitive". If you walk into a public place and start posing at people without so much as a by-your-leave, you have no idea what's going on with their scene. You pose walking in from a long day of work, except that in the scene it's morning. You pose a crowd, when the people in the scene have agreed on the place being empty. You walk in and expect to be accommodated no matter what the people who were already there had going on. They are absolutely within their rights to just GTFO, but most people are nice enough that they're going to try to explain to you that you're being a boor.

This proves my point, though. I have two people criticizing me for tonal complaints because we are discussing RP OOC.

Here is how it actually goes when I am being an insufferably entitled boor:

Go to public RP spot. See people there. Pose my entrance and whatever, probably with a nod or a hello their way if I want to approach them for rp.

Said people can ignore my pose, nod back and continue their conversation, say hi and nonspecifically give the OK to join them by doing so, etc.

All done with no OOC communication, so there's nothing to take personally.

If you honestly object to that in a public place, I don't get it.

Like this. Obviously, I'm not saying you're entitled for stating your preferences. I'm saying that your preferences indicate an intense sense of entitlement. I'm saying that what you do when you walk into a room where people are RPing is just think about yourself and then get upset when people don't bend over backwards to accommodate you.

Here's an experiment: try asking first. I think you'll find more people willing to accommodate you if you give them some warning. Say, "Hey, I'd like to join your scene, but I'm really bad at giving reasons for people to include me, so would you mind making an excuse to allow me to RP with you?"

I like that BITN gives such freedom to PRPers, hopefully that will mitigate some sandbox malaise. I see that the FAQ says no minor templates - so I assume the game is for mortal and select mortal+, not hunter conspiracies? Forgive the dumb question if it seems dumb.

That is definitely the time to move to a private room. I am all for letting people have their private moments spontaneously, and I am fine with having my own scene while someone else is sharing the same public space. That is what all public grid spaces are for really, use by everyone, any time. Everything else can use a private room, which is why I love RP rooms.

The hunter conspiracies do not exist on BITN. There are 'cooperatives' instead, listed on the faction page. They're set up similarly to Mystery Cults, with a few tweaks.

It's mortal only, with select supernatural merits allowed. The only + types would be psychics; the + minor template types aren't in play. No wolfblooded, no ghouls, etc. are in play, as their supernatural counterparts have been completely replaced by custom creatures.

So it sounds like BITN kind of IS going for the horror element, in that people aren't playing the monsters so there's no urge to befriend/have sex with/become them. That seems like a fresh take, I hope it flourishes.

i'm pretty sure the first command (the template setting one) is wrong. Might wanna fix that, whoever's page that is, since the rest will not work without that.

That's my page, and it's right. Check out +help chargen and stat template, and you'll see that the first thing you type in is "stat/template human".
