Marsilikos - Under the Wings of Angels explores a parallel history based on the Kushiel Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey, set in a late medieval, early renaissance era. In the land of Terre d'Ange, where members of nobility are descendants of Elua and other Angels that roamed the lands long time ago, there are intrigues evolving around the royal court, and diversions provided by the Night Court where courtesans cater to a wide variety of tastes and preferences.

Unlike other games of the theme, play focuses on the ducal court at the capital of the province of Eisande, shifting the viewpoint of general politics to more local interests and intrigues. The majority of nobles to be encountered will be of Eisandine families, courtesans of local salons and commoners with business to be in Marsilikos, of course!

Marsilikos is a port town, with a modest foreign influx as well as a potential for sea-related adventures and plots. Meanwhile, the Royal Court is still active in the City of Elua, the politics of which may affect the characters of Eisande this way or the other.

Our goal is to provide a friendly environment for plot driven RP, encouraging players to develop their own storylines in cooperation with staff.

The game is running on PennMUSH 1.8.6p2 and uses Faraday's FS3 skill and combat system, second edition. After tinkering for a few months, we are now in open beta and have already a few players.

I have very fond memories of my own one experience on a somewhat historical MUSH. Agreed, the place was rather small, and per invitation only. But it got me to read up on a whole lot of material about the crusades. (It was set in Jerusalem at the end of the 12th century). It also had the distinction of historical and fictional characters, and I ended up with one historical and two fictional alts. I had great fun there. Perhaps there was no drama because the place was so small?

That said, I'd be interested to play on this game.

As much as I like fictional settings. Even fantasy settings invite discussions about theme. It -always- depends on the staffers and the players in particular.

Meaning, avoiding a historical setting won't keep you from the drama.

Oh my, just noticed this. Apparently, wikidot isn't available as of yesterday. They are looking to have wikidot sites up again on Monday.

@icanbeyourmuse If Ares is "off the table", maybe Pennmush in combination with Faraday's Softcode Package (FS3 2nd edition) would be an option. It comes with a lot of useful stuff, like room format, who and where commands, a skill system that you can customize, a roster, bbs and job system, an event system, etc etc.

I'm not familiar with TinyMUX coding, and unfortunately I can't really commit to another project right now. I just wanted to put the thought out there.

It has been a great year 2018, and we are looking forward to continue our stories in 2019.

Our little experiment of an off grid plot in Elua has concluded successfully. Thank you, all of you that took part!

With that said, focus will shift back to the city of Marsilikos, as people will return from their Longest Night adventures.

Plots are brewing and we look forward to stories developing further in the province of Eisande.

Unfortunately, there isn't really an actively maintained list somewhere. If you look at mudconnect, it doesn't look like they accept new entries. As for mudstats.com, it gives up-to-date info on login numbers for those games that are registered there. Last additions through the admin there was 321 days ago, though.

I remember back in 2018 there was some talk here on MSB about creating an actively maintained list of active games. I never heard anything came out of it.

For ares games, you can check out https://arescentral.aresmush.com/games, you'll see published games there, along with info about how much frequented they are.
