Gonna finally out the old major characters. I have some WOW/SWTOR years but that's not really necessary here, I think. I usually just play one game at a time because I hyperfocus.

      Current
      Arx: Bliss (#3, I think?)
      Savage Skies: Cassandra
      Haven: Nahid

      Past
      Haven: Emilie (3.0), Samantha (4.0)
      Achaea: Selira
      Arx: Eamon

      Hi!

After quite a while out of work, for the first time ever I was offered a job mid-interview. Hopefully a launching point to get my life back on track.

So many small things I will be able to fix once I have income and insurance again.

When a player accepts their character's setbacks with grace and humor. Just excellent stuff.

IT IS NOT A BAD THING TO ASK PEOPLE TO TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, FULL STOP.

IT IS WHEN LITERALLY ANY SITUATION COULD LEAD TO BEING RAPED IF YOU ARE A WOMAN AND A MAN IS STRONGER THAN YOU ARE.

And often, steps to protect can make them angry and make it more violent if it's going to go bad.

This is very much a damned if you do, damned if you don't type situation and that is not the fault of women.

    • RE: Back in my day....

Oh my god, why is complaining about this still a thing? Literally every generation says this about the one after it, it's never as bad as it's made out to be, and humans still live on. Kids are dumb and they do dumb things inspired by the dumb people around them. This isn't any new quality of children in the modern era, this is literally a thing that has been happening and complained about forever.

These exact same things were said about you and your friends when you were young.

We are experimental, experiential, thrillseeking innovative creatures with a poor understanding of our own mortality and incredibly susceptible to social pressures among our peers. This is nothing more than a quirk of our evolution, and these are always a few extreme cases that just get way too much publicity.

I've been a little slower in scenes lately and more easily distracted. Sorry, not sorry.

      Himiko

This is Himiko. Her owner was hit by a car last week and is in recovery, so she's come to live with me for a bit. Am convinced she is not actually a cat but a soot sprite.

      alt text

But she's damn cute, absolutely loves to be pet, does the most delicate murder pounces, whirrs instead of meows, chirps, and has a habit of jumping onto everything.

Other cat is very much not thrilled and has told her to take the gun, but leave the cannoli. He can deal.

    • RE: Vietnam War MUSH

As the child of a Vietnam vet, please, no, no, never, no. The only way I can see themes of that war being justifiable in a game are if you basically strip them of all real-world connotation, which a lot of sci-fi from that period did, and the heavy themes of isolation and disconnect almost need direct, constant involvement by a GM.

      Tabletop, maybe. Not MU.

The trauma of that war is still too real, it's absolutely impossible to tackle the race issue well, and the stories to be told are stories that largely amount to constantly finding out about the horrors of human existence. That's it.

As for the word salad, @Chet, please remember that jargon is not key to effective communication outside of the specialized group fluent in that jargon. If you can't explain your ideas in a clear way that people can understand, you probably don't actually have a firm grasp of your ideas.

Incidentally, this is this fucking guy.

Well then let @apos post ALL the actual data that lead them to that. Nuzzling. Yeah. Sexual harrasment. Totally. Last one. I'm not wasting my time.

(Arx can never ban me even if they tried. But I gave my word. You won't ever see me in there again. Unlike your pall cullen.)

Probably has something to do with the fact that you're a creepy stalking asshole who chases women across multiple characters of both theirs and yours and is willing to put someone's private, personal information, including name and images, up on a public forum. Neither of these behaviors is ever acceptable. Nor is asking one character for their phone number thirty times and then whining to them OOC about why they won't give it to you, which you've done multiple times to multiple different people, very recently.

That's also sexual harrassment, FYI. As is rubbing up on people.

      I repeat:

      No one wants you here.

      Go away.

(also FYI changing your name to anon did nothing, Abyssal Walker)

@Runescryer I say this with as little bitchiness as I can: I'm not sure much more needs to be said about conflict between us, and there's still room in this thread for info and discussion about this situation, so I'm cool just leaving it here.

@Runescryer I came in here to respond to a specific post and then you went off on me. I responded to that, but I stirred no shit on this board initially.

I'm not a big fan of "both sides are a little right and a little wrong" dialogue. If I see proof that I'm wrong, I try hard to change on a dime, though. I will say I'm comfortable in a fire, but I sure wasn't trying to light one here.

I'm also not taking sides, this one was never about the boards to me, it really, really, really wasn't. It's clear two parts of this conversation are happening across both, and that's fine by me.

I also don't expect to be believed, and I'm not sure I'd believe me. So, you know, whatever.

@Derp Wait, who am I not liking? Because I don't like three of the four people I've heard of associated with this, the only exception being Jean's player, who seems fine and has clarified the IC womanizing behavior was purely IC and at her request. I did think it was clumsy and gross, and I wouldn't have responded to it, but it also wasn't a scene I was in.

      The receipts were bad.

@Derp I still feel the accusation relevant, I'm not taking it back, but I'm not engaging in the full debate yet again. You're just going to have to accept that. I don't think that makes me a hypocrite.

      Anyway:

@Derp I'm not doing this again, there already are multiple threads, you've said what you're going to say on the subject and I've said what I'm going to say. I think you're complicit, you think you've done no wrong, that's not changing.

    • RE: The All-New Down With OPP Thread

@Derp Largely people came down on him after the log showed up showing how weird he was being as Tony and we saw that there was some serious IC/OOC conflict going on. At least, that was when my opinion turned from "huh, Runescryer's actually posting on BMD, neat, that's a good sign," to "oh god that's right this is why I dislike the guy." I can't speak for anyone else.

Also, you're really not one to talk about bans, anymore. Just saying.

@Runescryer I do prefer it when you drop your pretenses, yeah, because I don't think you're particularly good at keeping them up in the first place. I also did think that falsely accusing someone of being one particularly toxic predator was bad, which I've not changed on, while generally exposing someone's own creepiness is a good thing. I think that's been pretty consistent in my messaging. I'm glad to hear you'll be more thoughtful in how you title things in the future.

I don't know what pretenses you think I have past that. Yes, I identify more with the people on BMD than on here, but I post on both boards in similar ways and I sure haven't been lying about who my friends are, which you seem to constantly assume I'm like ... some agent of staff over there? I'm not.

@Runescryer It's not my job to send a message on your behalf, sorry. I'm not friends with any of the admins on Discord or anything like that, either.

If something was under investigation, you shouldn't have said shit unless you were willing to put a name to it. This "tee hee I know something but I'm not telling" is really a nasty habit of yours.

My problems with you stemmed from repeating that kind of behavior and making a bad accusation without evidence, and when it became really clear it was something that developed out of a personal grudge you had, more than anything else.

ETA: And part of being willing to put a name to it is being ready to weather the inevitable storm that's going to come from naming anyone.

ETA2: Also, you realize no one flamed you because you were an MSB admin, right? They went on you because of explicitly what you were saying, why you were saying it, and how you were saying it.

@Tirit How, exactly, do you think accusations of someone's bad behavior should be handled, as a community, then? Literally every community has some version of this -- grievances are redressed, the cause and scope of the grievances reviewed, and bad actors punished. Usually, it's public for very good reason.

It does look like Reynal fucked up. He filed an emergency motion to dismiss the evidence and is claiming this as grounds for a mistrial.
