For there's no man in town half as manly. Perfect, a pure paragon!

When you finally finish your investigation, and there's a little unimportant bit in it that suddenly looks like the Next Thing.
@Lotherio I saw that it's an actual place, and so made my own. Mainly to show that just very quickly, you can create really interesting things.
Edit: Happy to help make this much better, and it can be yours.

This is too bad, because PvP between trusting people is pretty goddamn fun.
It is!

What are your goals with Lords and Ladies?
A semi-simulation involving political maneuvering, resource management, investment/trade, R&D, battle management/strategy to increase the prestige and power of my house while RPing with folks who are trying to do the same.
I'm just waiting over here wanting to play a podling paladin while you're coding that 23,851st WOD game.
There's so many times you could choose to set your game. So pretty please, make it.
I'd play the heck out of a Dark Crystal MMO too.
Gelflings: Pick a clan with its starting zone, most classes/careers open.
Firelings: Restricted to one starting zone, restricted classes/careers open.
Podlings: Two starting zones with Gelflings, restricted classes/careers.
Arathim: Restricted starting zone, most classes/careers. Generally against Gelflings like PVP.
Makrak: Starting zone with Firelings or Gelfling Grottans, restricted classes/careers.
Depending on the time selected, you could have NPC powers of Skeksis or Mystics, or they could be gone and you're dealing with the aftermath.
A really quick map of what a general layout could be without much work done that shows starting capitals for the Gelfling clans. Arathim could be to the southern wilderness. Firelings would need one too, so perhaps a no to them for now.
@bored I'm very interested that in the initial test with a handful of players that they're given a few character templates to pick and choose, flesh out those characters and them run some historical settings of Aesca in which those characters then become part of the lore. Not necessarily at the huge battle where the Dark Wind started, but at the March capital Myrr and the "Oh my god!" initial reaction.
But you have hit on a worry of mine. I want every single player to feel that they're supported, that they're heard and what they do matters. I'm trying to build initially that players have all the tools available to actually impact the storyline, theme, etc. There's a few things that initially I or a group of admin need to run each month around Dominion, but if I put the rules out there, I think maybe players can follow it and then a player council can help oversee things aren't able by me to be coded.
Or someone can say "Hi I'll help code!" and then tada, we can start incorporating these rules into Ares as long as they'd agree anything made goes to the Ares Addons so other games can use it too.
Sorry I've been not active on Aesca, I've been dealing with one of my properties being affected by stupid fires. Thankfully no loss to life, but it's gone and the workload for dealing with that has taken up all play time.
I'll get back to Aesca though as I want to see it bloom.
Bananerz, don't go crazy, don't go cra.....
Cost, time and how folks were raised/personal likes can create a lot of negative perceptions to a vegan lifestyle, and I don't help when I get on my soapbox and preach regarding the treatment of animals.
I don't like impossible foods personally, I don't want to taste dead flesh but if it means that more folks would be interested in swapping out meat for a substitute, that makes me happier. A sudden drastic change isn't realistic but slow and steady can do it.
The swap though of the animal-based industries with non-animal based industries will have a lot of negative impacts to a lot of people worldwide in terms of employment and living, and that's a big problem needing solutions such as universal wage, housing and healthcare. That isn't at all an easy thing to address.
An aside: maybe if there was truth in food labels which outline the environmental impact of that particular food item, that could help folks make better decisions for those wanting help. Perhaps showing actually where it's sourced so you can see for yourself the conditions/etc.
I'm all for being a demi-god hero!
@arkandel Not just the rules, but the mechanics and calculations behind the rules aren't usually published and players get to find out sometimes in trial and error.
I honestly don't care if someone wants to respec. I'm creative enough that I can handle hand waving prior scenes, especially when the player is a positive presence and losing them is far worse than a character joining the hundreds rotting away on a roster.
I do like the ability to set a flag for TS and particular ratings. I think the +interest/ts code is an interesting idea, as long as I could review that list any time and delete folks off it. If folks are on my ts list, sure they can look at preferences, things like that.
You have to treat folks as responsible adults up to the point they show they aren't. Folks who abuse it, become creepers, make things difficult for others should be pruned off the RP garden.
I don't mind it. We're here to have fun, and if someone wants to readjust their character for WHATEVER reason, I don't see a problem with it. Pretty much everything can be explained in a reasonably IC fashion. The only thing I really care about is that it not happen every week/month -- having some sort of 'you can do this 1 time per 6 months' or w/e, just to keep the work involved low and to keep it from going from 'redo the character to make needed changes' to a way to actually play (these stats for one month, then those stats for another month, etc.).
^ This.
Also, allow folks to take NPC's out of the closet to try new things!
@Ghost When rage transcends the character and fills the player!!
