Do I have any fellow bakers around here?

Anyone else ever done a sourdough starter (sponge)? ANYONE WANT TO JOIN ME? I just started mine a few days ago.

I keep talking about doing a sourdough starter, I'm just terrified I am going to forget about my little baby and not feed it 😧

Good luck on yours! Maybe one day I'll gather up the courage to do it too!

I've got an alarm set and I still fear I'll forget about it! So we'll see! 😄

I have recipes for a marscapone based cheesecake, banana maraguto, and a dark chocolate bourbon cake. I mean I can copy the recipes here or I can email the files I made for them. Just message me an email address I'm happy to share.

              I'm confused.

Is this about baking baked goods or just being baked in general?

Have to admit, that was the first question that came to mind as well, haha. Anyway, as far as actual baking goes... I am going to bake some biscuits on Sunday morning to serve up with some sausage gravy.

Alas this is pretty much the limit of my baking abilities.

I haven't tried biscuits again yet. My bar for myself is set really high and my last attempt came out way below said bar.

But damn if my sausage gravy isn't amazing.

I tried making this after a coworker did: http://www.zestuous.com/2013/07/bibingka-filipino-coconut-cake/

Holy shit, this stuff is AMAZING, it's basically a rice-flour pina colada cake. It's only good for about two to three days, but it's hard to stop eating it.

(I also tried it once, skipping the cream cheese and using Greek mango yogurt instead, with bits of mango in the cake and some form of mango juice as the liquid. It was pretty good, but not quite as amazing as the first cake.)

Tried a new 'no knead' recipe and I think it turned out well:

(Sourdough sponge is still coming along alright I think. Might be ready for first batch in a few days.)

@Gingerlily I'd rather make them feel BAD ABOUT THEMSELVES. It's more rewarding in the end.

First recipe for sourdough does not seem very good. It's on the 2nd rise, but I'm doubting that it's gonna be any good whatsoever. I'm half tempted to just give up on it already, but we'll see it through.

Already got another batch of dough going (using a wholly different recipe) because, well, why the fuck not. I've got enough starter!

It tastes great, but the recipe was indeed no good. It was too wet, dough didn't want to rise. I'll eat it, but it came out... flat. I mean, it'd be good alongside pasta or soup to tear into and dip in, but no good for, say, sammiches.

I've already got another recipe in the prep stages. We'll see if it's any better, tomorrow.

I've had my starter in the 'fridge for the past couple weeks, since I didn't need to make bread. But I'm on my last loaf, so it's time!

I also bought a new jar to keep the starter in, so I can have my mixing bowl back (and make moar starter).

Hopefully I manage to revive it without fucking up.
